"I think we should break up." Audrey said out of no where as she took a slinkie out of her purse and began to spread it apart.

"Huh?" I blinked. Did I hear her correctly? No- that couldn't be. Everything was going great for us so far.

"I think we should stop dating. I like someone else, and, well, it's not like you actually like me or anything." Audrey let one end of the slinkie fall to the ground as she held on tight to the other side.

I felt like laughing. What? What the fuck was Audrey saying? She was into someone else? Who was he? How did she not tell me earlier she met someone? And why the hell is she saying I don't like her? I'd loved her the moment I first spoke to her! Before I could say anything, Audrey dropped the slinkie entirely.

"So... Yeah... we're over." She shrugged and flipped her brown hair over her shoulder. "Later Matts."

That went too fast and heart-wrenching. There was no point chasing after her- Audrey was the kind of girl who would make things happen when she wanted them to. If she had wanted me to stop her, some invisible Audrey-string-of-fate would have pulled me towards her.

I sighed, looking over at where she had walked off. I knew she didn't live in that part of town, so I wondered if her new guy lived over there.

"FUCK!" I yelled, kicking the slinkie as hard as I could. "FUCKING SHIT SLINKIE SHIIIIT!" I stomped on the rainbow toy as I screamed my heart and anger out, bot caring if people walked past and thought I was crazy.

At that moment I felt as though I hated Audrey and her monotone voice and her venomous words and her superior attitude over everyone else. I screamed and kicked the crushed plastic toy as far away from me. I kneeled down and cover my ears as I screamed into my legs- muffling the sound only a bit. I was angry at myself- that list was why I fall in love with Audrey even more then originally.

Standing up felt like hell, but I managed to stagger away in the opposite direction Audrey walked off.

Half an hour later I was sitting in front of Apartment 21- Audrey's apartment. I didn't know when, but I knew she'd have to come. I had to talk to her- get some fucking God damn closure at the very fucking least.

I was nearly asleep when I heard the rhythm of her heels against the floor. She always danced to get to her room because it made her feel like an indie movie protagonist.

"Matts?" Audrey voice sounded shocked.

"You love Beauty and the Beast. You love chocolate and life and plants and most importantly yourself. I don't understand why you broke up with me, so please... Audrey... tell me." I shut my eyes tight and clenched my fists into my jeans.

I felt Audrey's breath on my cheek. "You never told me those words."

"Huh?" I blinked. Our eyes locked, my brown eyes to her lovely green and freckled black eyes.

"We've been together a year... but..."

"I love you. I've loved you the moment you tried to steal that crappy chocolate from my dad's liquor store." Opening my eyes was a mistake- tears began to roll down and fall all at once like a sudden storm.

Audrey grinned and wiped my face with her hands, holding my face. "Really?"

I nodded.

She kissed my cheek. "I loved you two... Matts... I lied about loving someone else."

"Huh?"

"I was hoping you'd chase after me."

I laughed, slipping my hands into my jeans pockets to play with the broken slinkie pieces I couldn't leave behind.
