New Years Kiss - Pedri

Main character: Lily Guzman

Lilys pov:

I get inside my car and drive to my best friend Pedris house. Every year I go to his new years party. Theyre always pretty fun since theres lots of nice people going there. 2022 felt like a breeze. Mad quick, that it felt like two months only. Now another year is coming up. 2023, here we come.

As I arrive Im greeted first by Pedris roomate Gavi. He and I are also best friends. Hes pretty cool and very trustworthy. I tell him everything as welll. Then I greet the rest of Pedri and Gavis teammates.

Pedri comes up to me and hugs me.

"Lily you came"

I hug him back.

"Yes of course"

As we pull away, I cant help but look at him for a moment. Weve been best friends for years, since we were basically babies. Although that was our relationship, that didnt stop me from developing a crush on him in our early teen years. Hes always been very kind to me, we did everything together. Weve always enjoyed each others company since day one.

"Lily?" he says

I leave my trance and reality comes back.

"Sorry, I just missed you" "I missed you too, lets go have some chips"

I nod and we head to the kitchen. 

Although Pedri and I did everything together, we did drift apart when he got signed to barcelona a few years ago.

I watched all his games, though, since I wanted to see how he played, and boy he was mad good. My mind has always though that hes going to be the next Messi

I surprised him with a visit last year and and we got close again. I hated being so far away from him since I lived in València and him in Barcelona. That crush Ive kept on him seemed to get bigger when I saw him again after so long. I loved our friendship because no matter how long we didnt talk, or get mad at each other, or live far away from each other, we still kept that bond and stayed true friends the whole time.

At the kitchen Pedri and I get some drinks and talk for a while.

Gavi and Ansu come up to us and join our conversation.

Since it was almost new years, I wanted to try something; have Pedri be my new years kiss. I know. Kind of insane, but I think its perfect. Someone who I know very well and love being around to kiss. If he liked me back, hed agree to kiss me.

I had to ask him but fast. That was my mission today.

I look over at the time on the microwave. Its almost 11 pm, which gives me enough time to ask Pedri the question.

After some thoughts, I decide to do it.

"Pedri?" "Yeah?"

I hesistate for a moment. Man who knew this was going to be so hard!

"Whats wrong?" he asks. "Nothing I just.. wanted to ask you something" "Whats up?"

Come on! Ask the question!

Balde comes up to us.

"Yo Lily, Pedri, who wants a beer?"

What a way to ruin the moment.

"Sure Ill take one" Pedri responds taking a beer. "What about you Lily?" Balde asks me.

I just had a beer a little while ago, but why not have another?

"Sure I guess, thanks"

He smiles and walks off.

"Lily Ill be right back, I forgot something in the basement" Pedri tells me, walking off.
