I sat down on the barstool and ordered my drink, feeling the weight of the day lift off my shoulders. I had finally finished my last meeting and was looking forward to relaxing in my hotel room. No one knew me here, and I liked that. Instead of going to a high-class bar, I decided to go to a regular one to see what it would be like if I wasn't a prince. As I observed the crowds around me, I heard the most beautiful laugh. I looked over in the direction it came from and saw a blonde girl with the biggest smile on her face. She had bright green eyes, long lashes, and full red lips. Her outfit was immaculate, suggesting she could work in an expensive business. She was talking to a girl with dark brown hair, who also had a big smile printed on her face.
I watched them talk animatedly for a few more moments before deciding to head back to my hotel. As I got into my limo, I couldn't stop thinking about the girl. I wished I had gotten her name. Should I go back tomorrow night to see if she's there?
My phone rang, pulling me out of my thoughts.
"Hello?" I answered.
"Hello, son," my father said.
"Did you need something, Father?" I asked anxiously.
"I have more business for you to do down in California. I advise you to look for... let's say a vacation home? I've made some connections there, so we would visit frequently. Make sure it's big and expensive. We don't need the embarrassment of something small. Got it?" he said demandingly.
"Yes, Father," I responded.
"I will send you a list of the best real estate agents down there near you," he said and then hung up.
I let out a breath, puffing out my cheeks, and looked outside. It was raining. My phone died shortly after, leaving me alone with my thoughts and the image of the girl with the beautiful laugh.
