I sit up abruptly, the cold air rushing into my lungs and burning like fire. It takes me a minute to slow down my breathing and avoid asphyxiation when I realize there was someone at the edge of my bed, breathing quietly, probably asleep. Their head was down, long locks of matte dark hair covered their face, but I could tell it was an adult.
My bed?
I take in my surroundings. There was an awfully huge amount of white, the smell of antiseptic was strong, with undertones of the artificial flowery scents from soap. The sheets in front of me were cheap and disposable, barely able to distribute heat. The curtains surrounding the bed were drawn, blocking prying eyes. I was in a hospital. Or at least I assume it was a hospital, I don't remember ever being in one before.
The memories bombard my rushing train of thoughts. The ledge. My body stumbling. Blood. And those horrible crimson eyes. My jaw tightens as I'm filled with bitter resentment. I was supposed to die, escape from these shitty heroes.
Still they saved me.
"You're awake."
I flinch in audible surprise, my body shifting towards the figure in the chair that I acknowledged earlier. He raises his head, his eyes iris glowing a bright red. I already knew this wasn't some villain, despite his rugged look, tired eyes and unshaven face. He just looked like a dad.
"Yea, and I'm gone." I smirk before activating my quirk.
Teleporting into a hotel room seems like a good idea, but it would be smart if i could check out which rooms are empty first, so i don't have to run into anyone. I'm also going to need food-
I'm not teleporting.
"I can't let you do that [l/n]."
The man in front of me leans forward, his fingers intertwined in his lap. His once grounded hair was floating in strands around him, making him look more intimidating than he was before. Was this his quirk?
A sense of panic overwhelms me. I lunge forward, lashing out at him. He doesn't even flinch. I push further, maybe I could get just one hit on him, but my arm doesn't let me. Turning to my left to analyze my wrist, I come face-to-face to a white bandage wrapped around it. The material was wrapped around one of the bars that made up the frame of the hospital bed, trailing up, twirling around the curtain rod once or twice, before leading back to the man in front of me.
"Sit back down."
I lower myself back on the bed reluctantly.
