In the late 1600s, somewhere near  present-day Gujarat and Rajasthan, there was a state named Shakti Pradesh. The state was shaped like the head of a tiger, which made it clear that the state was extremely powerful and strong. It was one of the places which wasn't captured by the Mughal Empire. It was very spiritual, famous for its temples dedicated to Goddess Durga and Lord Shiva. The state was very tolerant, it not only had Hindu temples, but also beautiful mosques, lavish gurudwaras, fascinating stupas, every other place of worship you could imagine. It was the most beautiful state in India, filled with gardens, the Abhayadri mountain range, and agricultural plains.

The capital, Baghpur, was a very important trade center. It was famous for its warriors, who fought valiantly in battles. Like most places, Shakti Pradesh was ruled by a king. Maharaj Dharmendra Shaktiveer Baghputra Vyagresh, more commonly known as Maharaj Baghputra, was the king of Shakti Pradesh. He was an excellent ruler, who was generous towards his subjects. He was known for being one of the greatest warriors of all time. He ruled along with his two queens, Maharani Amarashakti Vyagreshi, and Sathyarani Madhevi Vyagreshi. He was a father of four, his oldest daughter Vijayarani Baghavati, who is our main focus in this book,   Shaktiputra Vir Baghram Rai, their second child, the crown prince,  and the twins Tejaputra Shaktivesh and Tejaswini Shaktiprabha, who were known to be extremely bright.

Maharani Amarashakti Vyagreshi, more commonly known as Maharani Amara, was the oldest and the chief queen of Shakti Pradesh. She was a warrior queen, and was rumored to be better than the Maharaj himself. She was brave and fierce, and she never gave up on anything. She was the mother of the crown prince Baghram, and the adoptive mother of Princess Vijayarani, which we'll get to later in the story.

His second queen, Sathyarani Madhevi Vyagreshi, more commonly known as Rani Madhevi, was the second queen of Shakti Pradesh. She was extremely intellectual and broad minded. She was an excellent scholar. She was the mother of the twins, Tejaputra and Tejaswini.

Durga Puja, a celebration of the goddess Durga, was the state's most renowned festival. The state was particularly known for its devotion to Goddess Durga. On the first full moon of every September, they celebrated a special festival known as Shakti Utsav. On this day special dances were performed, and special songs were sung.

The town may have been beautiful and strong, but threats didn't stop. The town was put under pressure by the Mughals. The Mughals were a constant threat to the town. They always tried to conquer Shakti Pradesh. Despite the Mughal threats, the people of Shakti Pradesh were determined to protect their home. They built strong fortifications and trained their military.

Shaktiputra Vir Baghram Ray, more commonly known as Rajkumar Baghram or Crown Prince Baghram, as his title suggests, was going to be the next king of Shakti Pradesh. He was a fearless warrior. His leadership skills were renowned throughout the kingdom. The Rajkumar had proven himself in countless battles. As the heir to the throne, he would continue the legacy of his ancestors and lead Shakti Pradesh to glory.

The twins, Anuj Tejaputra Shaktivesh and Anuja Tejaswini Shaktiprabha, were very bright , intelligent, children , who were known for their wit and curiosity. They were really good at sanskrit, and were highly praised by their guru for their skills and intellect.

And for Vijayarani, I'll explain later. The whole book is about her. You'll find out.
