Outrunning the Unknown
...........
Thuddd!! A strong slam of the door kept on ringing in my ears. My vision is impaired and all I see is the world kept on spinning and my ears hurts a lot. I covered my ears and shut my eyes close but I can still hear it, The buzzing sounds. I placed both of my hands at my head and carefully massaged it to ease the pain a little bit.
“Heyyy! Hey, wehk aup!” I heard someone yelling gibberish near at my ears and felt a hand tugging my blouse. I opened my eyes to see who it was and as I open my lids, there it was….. a kid?!
“Hey! Wake up! Stand up, hurry!” The kid grabbed my elbow, assisting me to stand up. “Huh?” That was all I manage to blurt out. I stood up and felt the ground shaking. The kid grabbed my hand, started to run and screamed at me. “Come on! The ground is collapsing!” I look at the ground and it sure is. I ran as fast as I could and joined the kid in front of me.
I don’t understand what was going on. I was at my room at my home and…. “What the fuck?! The ground is literally collapsing!” What the hell is happening? It seems like my survival instincts are kicking in and despite the confusion, all I care to do was run.
Is this an earthquake? as the ground is shaking? But there is lava when the rock breaks and it fall apart “Lava?! H-how? How come there are lava?!! And wh-here?” Despite the confusion I have something clear in my mind, this is not my home and I don’t know how I got here.
“I will explain later just hurry up!” The kid cut me off and shouted at me. All I could do was nod at her. “Yes!” I responded at her.
We are currently running in a straight platform surround by lava. It is hot in here and I can feel my skin burning just from the top. We just keep on running on the intact ground but I hear the sound behind me. I looked back and large boulders kept on falling and the lava just swallows it. And as my foot take a step forward, the ground behind me becomes unstable and falls apart.
My heart just kept on pounding. It beats so loud that I can hear it inside me. I felt a tug in my hands, pulling me. I look at the front and it was the kid.
“Come on! It is breaking apart we have to go!” She shouted at me.
“Where are we going?! Just like you said it is breaking apart.” I asked her.
“Through there!” She pointed at a light that is far from us. As we get closer it seems like a…. door? There are a lot of questions in my head but the focus now is survival and I placed my trust to this kid whom I have just met.
The temperature boils my skin and I am sweating hard. I can’t breathe properly. My head is aching but I kept on running as we reach closer to the door. “We are near!” I said to myself and felt motivated. I ran faster and so did the kid.
