Chapter 30. Unnecessary drama.

Alex's P.O.V

I contemplated what to do. Many people had gathered at the scene. One wrong move could cause chaos. I motioned my men to capture the reporter. The man kept yelling, "It's a free country!" I was getting annoyed. I created a barrier around us and kicked the culprit. Clifford groaned when he hit the ground as well. I grabbed the criminal's neck and asked, "What the hell are you talking about? My men have been patrolling these parts since we got here. They never found any anomalies." There was a stench coming from the culprit's body. I wondered what the smell was. The guy smirked and replied, "Why don't you go check "The darkness bar" after hours? You'll be surprised by what you find there."

I threw the man in my assistant's direction and said, "Bring him to our healer. Find out what the smell is." My assistant disappeared with the criminal. My men had managed to clear the scene. They had erased the spectator's memories and retrieved the video. It was too early to visit the club. I hadn't eaten anything and was hungry. I was about to leave when Clifford stopped me. I groaned and asked, "What do you want, Clifford? Aren't you glad we are doing your job for you?" Clifford huffed and uttered, "I know that Cain and you are back together. Haven't you ruined his life enough?"

I laughed and asked, "Did you suddenly remember that you guys are related? Where were you when he was all alone in Washington?" Clifford winced and replied, "That's none of your business." I patted Clifford's cheek and said, "Watch your mouth before I rip you apart, Clifford. I won't hesitate to kill anyone who tries to meddle in our affair, so back off." Clifford started trembling when he sensed my powers. My hands were itching to hit the guy, but I controlled myself. I let my men handle the rest and went home. I took a shower after having lunch with the kids and my parents. I was surprised to see Cain in my room when I walked out of the bathroom naked.

Cain grabbed my arm and asked, "Are you alright, Alex? My heart almost stopped beating when that maniac shot you. What was Clifford doing anyway? Doesn't he know how to do his job?" I cupped Cain's face and uttered, "Stop rambling. Nothing happened. I'm fine. It would be best if you didn't come here. What will you do if people question your integrity." Cain hugged me and replied, "You and the kids are more important than anything to me. How do you expect me to stay quiet after seeing such a horrific scene? What if the bullet had poison?" I could sense how shaken Cain's wolf was.

I led Cain to the bed and said, "Come, let's lie down for a while." Cain diligently took off his suit jacket and shoes. He smiled when I pulled him next to me. I threw my arm around Cain and uttered, "Try to relax." Cain gazed into my eyes and stated, "I love you, Alex." I chuckled and replied, "Yeah. I know." Cain pinned me down and said, "You could have at least said it back to me." I cupped Cain's face and kissed him passionately. Cain closed his eyes to savor the moment. He chuckled when I uttered, "Is that clear enough?" Cain laughed and uttered, "Of course." Cain bit my nipple and declared, "You got me in the mood, my mate." I caressed Cain's cheek and said, "Go on. I won't stop you."

Cain kissed my neck and smirked. I watched him take off his shirt and tie. I ran my fingers on Cain's abs. Cain bit my lip and asked, "Do you like what you see?" I smiled and replied, "You are now more toned than before." Cain kissed me intensely and uttered, "It's all yours." It was like I had lost my mind. I threw Cain on the bed and kissed his chest. The kids were having lunch when I returned home. I was planning to meet the guy who had shot me in the evening. I finally knew why there was an odor coming from him.
