Third POV
"A distant memory?" Phil parroted. "Wait... can you tell me about my missing memories?!" Tira shook her head and he felt his heart drop.
"I can't tell you about them. At least nothing specific. He won't let me," she pouted. "But just know that the missing person really loved and cared about you. You were their only friend and the bestest sibling they ever had!"
"Then why did they leave? Why can't I remember them?!"
"They didn't want to!" The girl sounded like she choked back a sob. "But they had to. It was the only way they could make sure everyone was safe." Phil's eyes widened. They were the one that made the promise. The promise to get everyone to the human world. That's why when Emma made the promise it didn't work! Then that must have meant...
"Why did they do this?" Phil asked, his heart cracking. "Why couldn't they choose something else to give up? Why did it have to be our memories of them?! I want to know them! Remember them! They did so much for us but we couldn't do anything for them and now we can't even remember them without getting hurt!"
"I'm sorry..." the girl apologized, tears streaming down her face. "I didn't..." Her voice faded off as she wiped at her tears. Soon a bell chimed.
"What was that?" Phil asked, spinning around to look for the source. The girl shook her head.
"It's time. Maybe we'll see each other again." She gave out a singular pitied laugh. "Who knows?"
"What do you mean? Hey, wait!" The girl turned to a door Phil hadn't remembered seeing there before. She opened it and a bright white light beamed from inside. Phil shielded his eyes, peeking through squinted eyes and between parted fingers.
"Goodnight, Phil. Sweet dreams."
"W-wait...! T-"
Phil woke up with a start. His eyes darted around his room. There was nothing suspicious or out of place. The curtains were open — most likely by mama — and the bright sun was coming through and hitting his pendulum. It glistened, but Phil couldn't help but wonder if it was a sign or just the gemstone being a gemstone and reflecting light. Either way, what a weird dream. He couldn't remember it too well, but he could feel his heart squeeze when he tried thinking back on it. Maybe it was better forgotten.
"Phil, it's breakfast!" Emma called out from behind his door. "It's pancakes!"
Phil's eyes brightened.
"Coming!"
______________
Elliot stared between Tira and this... demon thing. Where the hell was he and who was this? At least it seemed that she didn't lie about there being demons in another world. But this was not the way he expected to find out. Getting whisked away in the middle of tormenting another priest? He could never have his fun, huh?
"This is goodbye, Elliot." The sudden weight of her words shocked him to his core.
"W-what do you mean goodbye? We just talked what? Today? Yesterday?"
"I'll be leaving. Leaving this body and identity behind." Elliot's face contorted into one of anger.
"What about Emma? Ray? Norman, Gilda or Don? What about Phil?! Why are you quitting so early?! Before you even get them to remember?" Tira pursed her lips.
"Listen, Elliot. I can't make them remember me. It's over."
"Tira-"
"But I can start a new life with them... maybe."
"What do you mean, maybe? Is that really good enough for you, Tira? A probability that is most likely not even 50%?!"
"Ugh, stop bullying me about it, Elliot!" Tira complained, throwing her hands up. "I've thought everything through. Most everything. And I took a risk to talk with you!"
"Why?! Just leave me alone! Leave me in the dark!"
"I can't because you're my friend!" Elliot's mouth snapped shut. "Even though you were an asshole in the beginning and trying to get me exorcised-"
"I did not."
"- you were still by my side. You listened to me, you helped me, and you comforted me. And I can't just leave when you know nothing about what's going on! I needed someone who could hear me, who could see me and you were the only one who did, even if you didn't want to as the only other ghost!"
Elliot wasn't sure what to say. Would saying anything at all help in this situation?
"Tira... I... I think the same." Tira's head snapped up to look at him. Elliot rubbed the back of his head, looking away as he continued. "I think you coming to the Ratri mansion was helpful in keeping me sane. I'm not proud of those moments when I snapped, and to be honest I don't remember too much about them, but it doesn't change the fact that I did them. So... go ahead. Live your life without regrets this time."
Tira clenched her teeth as tears threatened to fall. Elliot gave a sheepish smile, holding out a fist. Tira tapped her fist against his and she turned to the door that was behind the demon.
"Thanks for being my first ghost friend," Elliot joked. Tira rolled her eyes.
"Just admit it. I'm the only ghost friend you have that didn't die from that nasty holy water." Elliot chuckled.
"Yeah, that's true."
"..."
"... good luck."
Elliot's eyes widened when Tira pulled him into a hug. She tightly wrapped her arms around him and he could feel her shaking slightly. His eyes softened and he hugged her back tightly.
"Wreck those demons. And name me after a cute one."
"Mm... I will." With that Tira let go and ran through the door. It closed behind her with a loud clang. Now Elliot turned his attention to Him.
"Let's make a promise."
______________
"Ugh..." a boy with black hair and blue eyes groaned, sitting up. He scanned his surroundings which didn't tell him much. He was in a white room with a large window that took up the entirety of the wall to his right. Other than his bed he had a desk, chair, and there were papers scattered about on the floor.
"What is this- wait, what?!" His hoarse voice shouted, turning into a coughing fit. As he hacked his eyes narrowed into a glare. What the actual hell? He told him that he was going to get a body similar to his actual one!
"Why am I a boy?!" He growled once his breathing stabilized. He took in a deep breath and sighed. He couldn't complain. This was probably the closest He could have found. At least he wasn't made to wait years to get dropped off into a body.
... or at least he hoped.
"What's my name in this body? Obviously it's not gonna be Tira," he said, rolling his eyes. Suddenly the door clicked open and his body tensed up. Looking over he saw a man with platinum blonde hair and brown eyes.
"Looks like you survived, 90194."
