I sighed in relief when Colt's hands slapped the skids of the helicopter, gripping for dear life. Before I could see what he was about to do, Jody sped off, skewing my view. "What are you doing?" I demanded.

Jody just focussed ahead of her, swerving around people and film equipment. "How do you think he's going to get back down?" I didn't respond. I hadn't actually thought about that... "We need to set up the landing mat."

"How will we make sure he lands on it?" Jody thought about if for a few seconds, but an idea popped into my own head when I slid across the seat to see Colt out of the other window. "We can tie it to the back of a truck."

"Yes!" Jody exclaimed, pulling to a halt, by the mat, which was being unrolled. We jumped out of the car, immediately met by Dan. "How long will it take?"

"A couple of minutes." Dan looked slightly grim as he spoke. "You think he can manage that long?

I glanced up at the circling chopper. Colt was currently hanging off the side by a seatbelt. I gasped in horror as Ryder kicked him hard in the chest, out of the cockpit. Once again, everything moved in slow motion. Colt grabbed onto the skids, swinging onto the other in a swift motion. I let out a shaky breath. "He'd better."

The mat was now inflated and a stunt team member sprinted past me to clip it onto the tow bar of the car. Dan ran past me, giving me a brief smile, before jumping into the driver's seat and towing the mat in the direction of the helicopter. Jody ran to my side and I resumed my gaze on the chopper.

Colt was standing at the edge of the cockpit; Gail pointing a gun directly at his chest. "He has the recording," I whispered. Jody and I turned to each other, before  simultaneously turning back to Colt. "Come on, come on, come on!" We shouted, trying to get his attention to let him know the mat was waiting. "Quick!"

He glanced down at us, his eyes meeting mine, with a smirk. Suddenly, he turned back to Gail, and did the most inexplicably 'Colt' thing possible. He raised both hands, flipping Gail off, before he leaned backwards, free-falling towards earth.

Once he hit the mat, I wasted no time in sprinting towards it. Jody followed me, stopping at the edge as I climbed on. I turned to face her, offering her a hand up. She shook her head. "No."

I tilted my head in conclusion, not recalling my hand. "What?"

She just shook her head with a smile as the helicopter flew over the dunes. "I already told you, what Colt and I had is over." I still didn't quite understand. "I'm pretty sure he'll be way happier to see you, than me."

I shook my head. "I'm sure that's not true."

"It is." Jody let out a chuckle and I finally drew back my hand. "Colt never looked at me the way he looks at you." I frowned sympathetically, but there was no sadness in Jody's eyes, just excitement. "Go get him."

I nodded, a wide smile spreading onto my face. "Thanks, Jody."

"Don't thank me." She took a step back as Dan jumped out of the car and raced towards us. "Go on."

I immediately turned tail and picked my way towards the indent in the centre of the mat, where I knew Colt was.  It took me a minute or so to reach him on the unstable mat, but when I did, I didn't hesitate to wrap my arms around him.

He leaned into me, pulling me close, before our lips connected once again. Unlike the last few times, this one was urgent, desperate. The fear of not seeing him again had manifested into something passionate and hungry. I reached up, gripping his face tightly as his arms snaked around my waist.

Explosions sounding in the background couldn't even break us apart. It was like we were the only people alive. When we finally did pull away, Colt held up the recorder with a grin. "I got it."

I nodded, breathing heavily, my arms still around his neck. "I see that."

"Well, since I made it back..." I already knew where this was going and let out an amused sigh. "How about that date?"

I just chuckled and leaned back in as the mat began to deflate, bringing us closer and closer to the ground. I reconnected our lips for a brief moment, before mumbling an enthusiastic "yes" against his. He just squeezed me tighter.

"Finally."

As Colt and I walked out of the Metalstorm premiere, hand in hand, I couldn't wipe the grin off of my face. The movie was a hit; Jody's directorial debut hadn't been a flop, and I was walking to my car beside Colt Seavers. What more could I want?

"So?" He asked, as we stood next to my car in the dark parking lot. I turned to him, giving him my full attention. "What are we gonna do now?"

I shrugged. "I don't know." I thought for a moment, "Jody asked me to be a camera operator for her next film. We start in a couple months."

Colt looked impressed. "Congrats." He gave me a quick peck on the lips. "Let's go on a road trip?" My eyes widened in surprise. "You know, like in the outback..."

"The outback?" Colt nodded enthusiastically and I let out a chuckle. "You know what? Sure. Why not?"

"We can see some kangaroos and koalas."

I nodded in agreement. "And drop bears." Colt's eyes widened.

"Drop whats?"

"Drop bears." I somehow managed to maintain a serious expression. "They're like big koalas that drop on you from the trees." Colt looked horrified. "You've gotta be really careful."

Colt shook his head in disbelief. "Why does everything here want to kill me?"

"Rude," I muttered as we got in the car. "I don't want to kill you."

Colt just chuckled. "Well, you're the exception. I guess I'l have to keep you around."

"I'm just a camera operator," I replied, starting the engine, unable to hide the grin that threatened to replace the mock pout on my face. Colt watched me in amusement. "Why would anyone want me in their story?"

He jsut shrugged, reaching a hand over to grab mine. '"Well, I'm just a stunt guy, so what do I know?"

Well, that's a wrap!

Thank you all so much for reading this book! I hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I really enjoy doing these little writing challenges where I try to finish a book in a month, and while it has been a little over a month, I am really proud of how this experience has gone.

Make sure to vote and comment!

I know a potential sequel script has been written, and if that ever happens, I will most definitely write a sequel to this.

Epilogue out tomorrow!
