Li Yu's streak of light zipped through the sky. He glanced back at the small town, sighing quietly to himself.

This outing had been rather fruitless except for killing a few people and collecting some source stones from the mine. These stones were far less valuable compared to the Undying Herb he had exchanged for the Earth Life Fruit. It was a bit of a loss, honestly.

But little Tingting was just so adorable!

"Ugh," Li Yu coughed awkwardly, quickly snuffing out the budding thought.

Lolis have their charms—ugh, no! Tingting was just a child! He had helped her out of pity, nothing more. Raising a loli? Absolutely not! Besides, he could only stay in this world for a year. No time for any such nonsense.

In his frustration, Li Yu descended before the grand hall at the foot of the volcano.

Surveying the surroundings, he sighed again, "Alright, I might as well focus on training Zhou Yi."

He entered the grand hall, spread out a mat, and sat down cross-legged.

Aside from managing the system and training Zhou Yi, Li Yu had planned to gather more resources during his year in this world. However, traveling to far-off places would be time-consuming and not worthwhile.

The nearby areas with valuable resources were perilous, like life-forbidden zones. Even with the system, venturing there risked his life. After all, he had already looted the Azure Emperor's tomb—an immense gain. There was no need to be overly greedy.

"Safety first," Li Yu muttered with a bitter smile, "I'll be a behind-the-scenes orchestrator. Let Zhou Yi take on the dangerous tasks. Otherwise, what use is the system for him? Certainly not for selfless assistance."

"System, connect to the Supreme Heavenly Book. Let's see what Zhou Yi is up to."

Instantly, an image of Zhou Yi appeared in Li Yu's mind.

In a dense forest, Zhou Yi, covered in mud, lay motionless amidst fallen leaves.

Ahead, a bear-like monster, towering like a small hill, sniffed the air, searching for Zhou Yi.

"Haha, Zhou Yi is really going all out," Li Yu chuckled at Zhou Yi's mud-covered state.

The bear sniffed around, unable to find Zhou Yi, and then focused on the ground in front of it.

A massive honeycomb lay there, golden honey seeping from its cracks, exuding an irresistible sweet fragrance.

Overwhelmed by the aroma, the bear couldn't resist any longer and swallowed the honeycomb whole.

As golden honey dripped from its mouth, the bear hummed contentedly, seemingly enjoying the treat.

"Not bad, not bad," Li Yu nodded in approval. "Zhou Yi is quite resourceful. That bear is done for."

Sure enough, the bear suddenly clutched its stomach, letting out a painful howl, and rolled on the ground.

Zhou Yi remained still amidst the leaves, enduring the rocks and dirt kicked up by the bear's thrashing without moving a muscle.

With a final thud, the bear collapsed to the ground, its massive body making a loud impact.

"Hahaha!" Zhou Yi sprang up, laughing triumphantly at the fallen bear. "A beast is still a beast. No matter how strong, it can't handle a bit of poison."

"Spirit of the Heavenly Book, collect the bear's body."

"Yes, Your Majesty!"

An invisible wave swept over, and the bear's body vanished.

"Spirit of the Heavenly Book, what's our current resource count?" Zhou Yi asked.

"Your Majesty, today you have collected eight savage beast corpses at the Bitter Sea level, one bear monster at the God Bridge level, and twenty-five various spiritual herbs."

"Great! With these, my strength will increase significantly." Zhou Yi beamed, looking towards the volcano. "That's enough for today. I'll go back and process these gains. Seeing my progress, the Grandmaster will surely be pleased."

"Haha, indeed," Li Yu nodded with a smile. "At this rate, Zhou Yi will soon grow strong enough to lead the charge. Then I won't need to step in personally. After all, isn't that why the system is supporting him? Not out of selfless charity, for sure."

Before long, Zhou Yi returned to the grand hall.

"Greetings, Grandmaster."

Seeing Li Yu seated inside, Zhou Yi bowed respectfully.

"At ease," Li Yu nodded. "How was your harvest today?"

"Grandmaster, I've had a great haul. I hunted eight fierce beasts, one transforming beast, and gathered twenty-five spiritual—"

"I'm not asking about that," Li Yu interrupted.

"Resources are important for a cultivator, but..."

Li Yu looked at Zhou Yi, shaking his head slightly. "But someone aiming to become a Great Emperor shouldn't focus solely on these."

"Please enlighten me, Grandmaster," Zhou Yi said, bowing again.

"The path of cultivation is fraught with peril. Experience in handling danger and combat is invaluable."

Adopting the tone of a sage, Li Yu continued, seemingly enjoying his role as a mentor.

To Zhou Yi, Li Yu was an unparalleled master, and he believed every word without question. He never considered if he might be led astray.

Li Yu's advice wasn't entirely misleading. After all, spouting grand principles, anyone could come up with something that sounded reasonable.

"Beyond these experiences, the greatest gain lies in the tempering of your mind. You are, after all, of mortal origin, unaccustomed to slaughter. Courage, determination, and a will to win—these are your true gains."

"The path to becoming a Great Emperor is paved with mountains of corpses and seas of blood. Without courage and resolve, how can you stand out? How can you be invincible in the world?"

"Yes! Thank you for your guidance, Grandmaster," Zhou Yi said, deeply moved. He realized he had been too short-sighted.

What are resources? With enough strength, can't you seize any resource? Battle experience and mental fortitude are what truly matter.

Appreciating the Grandmaster's earnest teachings, Zhou Yi clenched his fists, his heart surging with determination.

"I will achieve great things and repay the Grandmaster's teachings!" he vowed silently.
