Four months had passed since that magical engagement night, and the day had finally arrived. It was their wedding day, today, Stevie and Tremaine would become one. In a vintage Hollywood-themed extravaganza that promised to be as glamorous and unforgettable as the love story it celebrated. The venue, a grand old mansion with sweeping staircases and opulent chandeliers, buzzed with excitement as guests began to arrive, many of them big names from the worlds of entertainment and business. Coming to support both Stevie and Tremaine on their big day.
Paparazzi and media from all over flooded outside of the mansion, where the private event was being held. Hoping to get a glimpse of Tremaine or his beautiful bride-to-be.
In separate rooms on opposite sides of the mansion, Stevie and Tremaine were getting ready for their big moment. In one room, Tremaine's rough laughter filled the room. As he and his groomsmen passed around red solo cups filled with Hennessy and whatever else, Dallas, Tremaine's cousin, mixed up for them to drink.
"You'a drunk, dude, why did you chug that down like that, you didn't hear me say wait? Damn." Dallas snatched his brother's cup from him, moving to make him another drunk.
Victor shrugged, as he laughed. "My fault, kid, I..I," He stammered whipping his mouth with the back of his hand.
Once Dallas fixed another drink for Victor. He then moved to join the group of men starting to gather near Tremaine. Don, Tremaine's best friend from college, stood recording as a keepsake for when the special event was over.
"Man," Don and Tremaine dapped as the two of them laughed at a small inside joke between them. Before Dallas began to gather everyone's attention.
"A'ight, a'ight gather round, today is a very special day. My cousin, and one of the coolest people I know is getting married, finally." Dallas joked as the men cracked smiles.
Tremaine interjected with a gentle grin. "- I know, I know. And I can thank yall for that, seeing you guys falling in love and getting married, seeing you all genuinely happy and in love. Can't lie I wanted that too for myself. I've been ready for a while, and fellas I have that now, and I'm really happy. Stevie is amazing and feisty for sure, but she's perfect. Whew, I can't wait to tie the knot with her today. And let's not forget she fine ass hell. We know how to pick em' real talk."
The Men laughed and nodded in agreement. "Hell yeah, I can second that. We got some fly, fine ass, educated, boss ass black women on our arms." Victor smiled as he lifted his cup a bit.
"And you know this, man. So to married life, almost married life, and for sure black love. And most importantly let's toast to the bride and groom, to the Maisons." Dallas lifted his cup, having all twelve of the men bring their cups up to join his.
"To the Maisons." Everyone chanted, touching their cups together before they drew their cups back and to their mouths to chug down their drinks.
"Shit!" Tremaine howled as he felt the stinging in his chest for the alcohol. "Whew! Let's go, baby, let's go, I'm getting married today." He and Dallas shared a handshake and then a tight squeeze.
While the men finished getting dressed, joking around, and drinking. On the other side of the mansion, tension and emotions were running high. Stevie's customized dress hung nearby, a stunning vintage-inspired gown with intricate beadwork and a long, flowing train. Across the room, she sat at the vanity. Staring in the mirror, tears and mascara streaming down her face, as her bridesmaids, including Ari, fluttered around her, trying their best to comfort her, but nothing seemed to be working.
"I want Duck," Stevie panicked. "Now! Go get duck, somebody!" She demanded, her hand slamming down on the table.
Trepidation stretched through the room, and a frenzy broke out. As the ladies struggled to find someone to send off to go retrieve Duck, Stevie's Godfather.
