Chapter 8

I fixed my lilac peplum dress infront of the mirror. I pushed my straight and sleek hair at the back and inhaled deeply. When I was already satisfied with my cool toned make-up complimenting my brown eyes, I sprayed my expensive perfume all over my body.

My stiletto made a sound on the floor as I stormed out of my room. It feels so good to feel myself again. Despite the circling rumors about me since last night, dressing up to look impowered makes me feel really good.

I exerted another amount of energy to gather my breath and exhaled it while I paced on the hallway. I think it's only seven in the morning. Tahimik pa ang paligid at wala pa akong naririnig na mga tao sa baba.

I prepared too early. Gusto ko pagdating ng mga pulis na mag iinteroga, at lalo na si Rohen ay handa na ako. It shows professionalism on my side but I don't wanna outdo it too.

If I outdo things they will think I am suspicious. I am not. I understand their point of me having all the possibilities and reasons to burn the field. Dahil hindi na nga sa amin iyon.

Pwedeng nagagalit ako, naghihiganti, gusto kong bumagsak si Rohen and so on.

But I really don't care about those things. They will just hinder my main purpose. Wala akong pakialam para magalit pa, wala rin akong sasayanging oras para pabagsakin si Rohen. Because entering his personal life would be the thing I would even think about.

I don't care about his life outside the hacienda. His business and work. As long as I can take the land back I am all good.

But my plan kept on getting put aside dahil sa mga insidente! Padagdag ng padagdag ang mga problema at ngayon kailangan ko pang ayusin at linisin ang pangalan ko, kung gusto kong umuwi na hawak ang titolo!

My head is aching.

There are so many things to fix.

The land. The people. And Rohen.

Hindi niya ako pwedeng pagdudahan. Hinding-hindi.

"Magandang umaga! Ma'am Cali!" magiliw na bati sa akin ni Aling Anita nang makababa ako ng hagdan.

I smiled a bit.

Pinagdikit nito ang dalawang kamay. "Ang ganda mo, Ma'am!" puri niya sa akin.

"Thank you, Aling Anita. But I spend hours to look like this." I chuckled.

Natawa ito. "Ay, Ma'am! Kahit wala kang ayos maganda ka pa rin! Mas bagay talaga sa inyo ang pormal na damit!"

Ngumiti ako sa kanya at naglakad na kami patungo sa kusina. "Salamat po. I'll take note of that."

Humagikgik ito. "Magkape ka muna. Wala pa naman ang mga pulis, hindi pa rin nakakabalik si Senyor."

Humugot ako ng upuan sa dining table at pumunta naman si Aling Anita sa counter kung nasaan ang coffee maker.

I glanced at her. "Umalis si Rohen?"

Tumango ito at pagbalik ay may dala nang tasa na may kape. "Kaninang alas-kwatro naabutan ko siyang palabas ng mansyon. Hindi ko nga alam kung natulog ba 'yon. Pumunta siguro kela Governor Astalier at babalik na lang mamaya." inilapag niya ang tasa sa harap ko.

"I see, po." I said bluntly.

Sounding so uninterested but the truth is deep inside I am having so many questions. For sure he didn't sleep. Maybe didn't even bat an eye! Malamang nag imbestiga iyon kagabi at baka napaisip siya sa sinabi ng mga tauhan niya?

Paano kung inimbestigahan niya ako? Paano kung may nalaman siya? At pumunta siya kay Governor Astalier para sabihin iyon? They might throw me out of the hacienda or maybe worse... out of Astalier.
