Chapter 7: Lion's Head's Challenge

Kotoha and Motako helped Mess walk out of the hospital once he had gotten stitches- he'd only cause more problems if they didn't help him catch up with the others heading to Lion's Head, they were walking down the street when they bumped into the party moving towards the border; they looked at Mess with worry since Umemiya assured them he wouldn't be joining in today and would be in hospital longer.

Umemiya: " Mess! You idiot go back! "

Mess: " As if! "

Kotoha: " Leave it Ume, he wouldn't even listen to me when I threatened to fire him- he's insistant on showing up "

Umemiya: " Fine but you're only watching! "

Umemiya took over for Kotoha and walked with Mess and Motako to the venue where the fight would take place, it was dark enough for Mess to see due to the clouds and smoke over Lion's Head's turf, Motako helped him by removing his blindfold- it was luck enough that his eyesight was saved quickly so he could still progress with the healing after the sand was removed from his eyes. They looked up at the old theatre, Choji taking them inside happily to where the rest of Lion's head awaited their arrival.

They saw the members in bright orange waiting excitedly as the members of Bofurin walked to the front and sat in respective seats- Motako sat in Mess' lap to make sure he couldn't get up and fight (he could easily lift her but it's the thought that counts). Choji began to welcome everyone before the first fight took place; it was Sugishita vs a boy named Arima. The fight was exciting for Mess to watch as he didn't expect Sugishita to be that strong- he knew he was from the fight with Sakura on the first day but he seemed to be fighting better now. The fights were noteworthy- each one showing off the true strength of Bofurin and little bit of fourth wall breaking here, I intended to write out each fight but couldn't find the youtube videos for them so I can pause and play easily but I assume all those reading a Wind Breaker fanfic has seen the fights and I don't want to ruin them by poorly describing them- if you haven't watch them then please go do so and come back here after.

Mess began to grow pissed off during the fights, seeing how they treat their members- Sakura and Togame was about to fight when suddenly Mess stood up before they could get to the stage, people grew confused at this since they were sure he wouldn't be fighting; Motako and Umemiya tried to stop him but he was already walking over to Choji and Togame with a glare.

Mess: " What the fuck are you idiots playing at?! "

Choji: " Huh? "

Mess: " Don't Huh me you little shit, what the fuck?! Those are your own guys are you're stripping them of their places when they lose? That's fine if that's how you wanna run it but I can guarentee you won't take yours off if you lose "

Choji: " I won't lose "

Mess: " Bullshit, I can tell you will right here. You haven't got the shit to be a leader, you're only a brat "

Togame: " What your mouth, you're still in our turf surrounded by our members "

Mess: " Screw it then, Anyone who wants to fight me right here get up on stage and I'll take you all on! "

Umemiya: " Don't be an idiot! "

Mess: " If Choji wants to kick everyone out of his gang then I'll prove to him that his ways will only leave him lonely! People are scared of losing since they know they'll get kicked out if they do! None of them are getting stronger because none of them want to fight! That's like killing someone for petty theft! You're not helping you're just cutting them down before they have a chance to grow! "

Choji: " Shut up what would you know! You killed a man more than easily and you wanna preach about being drastic! You're a hypocrit! "

Mess: " I know! Don't you think I'm aware of that! I want to help people but when I have the chance too I freeze up because I have no idea what to do! I say killing someone is drastic or not to take things too far but I'm the first one to do it! That's why I say those things, I say not to do the things I do because I've experienced the places those things can take you! You're an idiot Choji and your actions are only going to end up leaving you alone or making you a target of your own group like mine did! "

Choji: " Furin turned on you? "

Mess: " No, I was the leader of the Gorgons, Medusa the man killer? Protector of victims? "

Choji: " oh... I've heard about what happened to you... "

Mess: " Yeah, watch yourself... you may think your strong but you'll never be stronger than a group you've forced to become stronger... "

Mess left, he stormed out the theatre since he couldn't bare to watch someone walking the same path he did- he walked out of Lion's head territory and just kept wondering, thinking back on the old days when he use to just be a member of Aqua before he reformed it- where would he be now if he just kept things the same way they've always been. Mess ended up back on the same train tracks where he was jumped, sitting against the same train cart as his memories flooded back; he was on Gorgon territory now but he knew they should be in jail or atleast mostly inactive by now.

He sat there for a while, until he got a call, it was from Umemiya- he said that they were chasing after a group of Gorgons who had grabbed Motako when she left to look for him; they had finished the fight with Lion's head and they've had a reform so they were helping in the chase. Mess stood up before seeing the group of said Gorgons arive at the train tracks; they faced him and held Motako- she was already beaten pretty badly, her arm was broken and bleeding and her face was bruised and bloody but to make it worse, they held a knife to her throat...
