Chapter Five: Hospital

My eyes fluttered open as I realized that I wasn't at home anymore. I look around and saw machines around me and tubes on my arm. Am...I at the hospital...?

I tried sitting up but wasn't able to when I couldn't pull my left hand away. I look to my left and saw Sung Hoon sleeping while holding my hand. Memories of that night I came home came back to me as I stared at him. I carefully pulled my hand out of his grasp and got off of the bed slowly putting the hospital slippers on and heading out to explore the hospital. A doctor then came up to me and smiled making me bow to greet them.

"Ms. Jang Won Young?" "How..do you know my name?" "I'm your doctor" "Oh...how long have I've been out?" "3 days" My eyes widened at her answer as I realized how many days I've been asleep. "School-" "You're husband said that he would tell your principal and teachers that you wouldn't be able to attend school for a while." "A while?" "Yes" "Why so long?" "Um..maybe we should go to my office?" I nodded and followed her to her office wondering why she looked nervous and sad.

After we sat down in her office, she cleared her throat and started talking again while I attentively listened to her. "Well...um...when your husband came here with you in his arms, he said that you passed out and looked really pale. So when we checked on you, we found out that you were very stressed and ill with...brain cancer..." My heart dropped at that very moment as I processed every thing she just had said. "B-Brain..cancer...?" "Unfortunately...yes..." Tears started falling down my cheeks and my breathing staggered as I realized that it was me who had brain cancer. My lips quivered as my vision got blurry because of the tears. "Please..please tell me that this is a joke..." "I'm sorry..." I stood up making her look up at her and stumbled out of the door. But before I could walk out of the door, it was slammed open. "Won Young!" I slowly looked at him with tears still in my eyes as he realized that I had discovered the truth. "S-Sung Hoon..." He pulled me into his embrace hugging me tighter as I broke down into tears.
