CROSSING PATHS

Part 1

Beatrice Rose Alejandro (Freen). That is what is written in the portfolio placed by my secretary in my desk. It was sent to me by my mom. She called me earlier and ask me to look into it. She wanted to hire this lady.

While on the phone with mom:

Sophia's Mom: Thank you dear. I just feel that the board was to harsh to strip her off with the scholarship. She deserves it more than anyone on the list.

Sophia: Then why you let them do that to her?

Sophia's Mom: It's part of the condition of the scholarship. But the kid explained her side and I tried to convince the board to just give her another chance.

Sophia: That's just not right. Maybe you and dad needs to check those regulations and amend it.

Sophia's Mom: I'll talk to your dad about it. But dear please look into her folio and give her a job. I know she really need one right now.

Sophia: Alright mom. I will.

Sophia's mom: Thank you my dear.

After saying I love you to my mom I hang up. Honestly, I have so much things to do and checking on possible new employee is no longer my job. But since it's mom who is asking me, then who am I to say no. I love my mom so much and I just can't ignore her request.

I check the folio and I can't deny that this Beatrice has a potential.

I called my HR head and asked her to arrange things for me.

I want that Beatrice in my department. This lady has a lot of potential. I instructed my HR head to call her and make sure that she will be given the position that I chose for her.

Afterwards, I need to focus and finish this other documents in front of me.

I have my own company and I don't affiliate it to my family's business. Well, that's my decision. I want my dad to see that I can do it on my own. And I know he can see it now.

Me and dad had a fallout after mom caught him cheating on her. I hate him for hurting my mom. He tried to cover up his affairs but I am not stupid to not know. I just don't get it. Mom loves him so much and gives him all the attention he needs. She is a perfect wife. But I think my dad just don't know how to be contented.

I made my decision and I am glad I did. I am doing ok now with my business. Not to brag but I own one of the biggest advertising company in the Philippines and I am expanding it now through different countries in Asia.

My Full name is Maria Sophia Alessandra Salameda (Becky). I am 25 years old,  turning 26 in a few months. Well, I graduated from an international school. Being a scholar abroad is not easy but I made it. I want to prove to my dad that I can do it on my own. I work while I study. I have met my best friend while studying in the university. Her name is Denise. She helped me in every way she can. She taught me how to live my life normally. Well, growing up in a family where you can have what you want, it was not really easy doing everything on my own. That is why I am so thankful to have Denise as a best friend. Well, right now she is also exploring her passion. She loves arts and she is now on tour. She is visiting all the art galleries and is also preparing for her own exhibit. I promise her that I will not miss her very first exhibit. I will make sure to be there for her as well.

Love? hmmm... I think right now, it's not a priority for me. Well maybe because I have so many what if's in my head when it comes to love. But, I know I will definitely cross paths with it one day. But now, its my business first.

My thoughts were interrupted by a phone call.
