Yoongi’s parents were very wealthy in South Korea. So, when some of their classmates insulted Jimin for being poor at the party, Yoongi didn’t say a word. Instead, he simply called his father and asked him to terminate the contract with the company owned by the boys’ parents.

The next day, those boys found out that their family’s company had lost a major contract, causing its shares to plummet overnight. Shocked and panicked, they couldn’t believe what had happened. The news spread quickly across the university, and everyone was talking about it. However, no one knew who was behind it.

Yoongi, meanwhile, kept quiet, satisfied that he had silently stood up for Jimin.

Yoongi wasn’t always on Jimin’s side. In the past, he had insulted Jimin too, saying similar things. However, he had already apologized and admitted his mistake. He had misunderstood Jimin back then, and although they weren’t particularly close now, everything was settled between them. Even so, Yoongi couldn’t ignore the guilt he still felt for his past actions.

The university campus was buzzing with students during lunchtime, and Jimin decided to escape the noise for a bit. He headed toward the park, hoping for some peace. However, as he approached the path, he noticed someone else walking in the same direction—Yoongi.

Jimin froze for a moment. Memories of their past encounters flooded his mind, and a familiar fear crept up. He didn’t want to deal with Yoongi, not after everything. Quietly, he turned on his heel, intending to leave unnoticed.

But Yoongi saw him.

“Hey, Jimin,” Yoongi called out, his voice calm yet firm. “Why did you turn away?”

Jimin stopped in his tracks, his heart pounding. “N-No, I didn’t,” he stammered, avoiding eye contact. “I was just going somewhere else.”

Yoongi raised an eyebrow, his expression unreadable as always. “Don’t lie,” he said softly, though there was no anger in his tone. “It’s a university park. You can come here anytime. It’s not like I own the place, or that you can’t be here because I am.”

Jimin hesitated, fidgeting nervously. “Umm... okay,” he mumbled, not knowing what else to say.

Yoongi simply nodded and continued walking, not saying anything more. His simple, quiet demeanor made Jimin uneasy, even if he wasn’t outright intimidating him.

Jimin stayed rooted to the spot for a few moments before cautiously making his way into the park, keeping a careful distance from Yoongi, just in case. Even though things had calmed down between them, the lingering fear from their past interactions was still hard for Jimin to shake.

Jimin sat on a bench in the corner of the park, his eyes darting around nervously. Yoongi had continued walking and sat down a few benches away, as if he didn’t care much about Jimin’s presence, but Jimin couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. Every time Yoongi shifted or made a sound, Jimin's heart skipped a beat, still haunted by the way things had been between them.

For a few minutes, everything was quiet. The usual sounds of the campus faded into the background, leaving a strange stillness between them. Jimin tried to focus on the sound of birds in the trees, but the unease kept creeping back.

Then, Yoongi spoke. “You know, I wasn’t trying to make you uncomfortable that day.” His voice was surprisingly soft, almost like he was carefully choosing his words.

Jimin blinked, looking up at him for the first time since they’d crossed paths. Yoongi didn’t meet his gaze but instead stared ahead, his posture relaxed.

“I... I know,” Jimin muttered quietly. The tension in his chest hadn’t fully eased, but it felt like Yoongi wasn’t pushing him like before.

“I didn’t... mean to hurt you,” Yoongi added, his voice a little lower now. “It was stupid, and I shouldn’t have said those things.”

Jimin bit his lip, the old memories of Yoongi mocking him, of the cruel words, rushing back. But he could tell Yoongi was sincere now. The guilt in his voice was real, and Jimin didn’t feel the same fear he once did.

“Okay,” Jimin replied softly, the word hanging in the air. He wasn’t sure what else to say. Yoongi had apologized before, but it still felt awkward between them.

There was a long pause before Yoongi finally looked at him, his expression still calm but with a hint of something Jimin couldn’t quite read.

“I’m sorry, Jimin,” Yoongi repeated, his eyes meeting his. “I really am.”

For the first time, Jimin nodded. Maybe things between them wouldn’t be the same as they used to be, but maybe they didn’t have to be. Things had changed, and even though the past still lingered, Jimin was starting to believe that maybe it wasn’t something he had to fear anymore.

The silence between them stretched on for a little longer, but this time, it felt different. Jimin wasn’t as afraid, and Yoongi wasn’t pressing him to say anything. For once, there was no tension in the air.

Jimin shifted uncomfortably on the bench, still unsure of what to do or say. He had gotten used to avoiding Yoongi, to keep his distance, but now, the atmosphere felt... lighter. He glanced over at Yoongi, who was just sitting there, his hands resting on his lap.

“I… don’t know what to say either,” Jimin said quietly, breaking the silence. He looked at Yoongi with a hesitant expression. “But it’s fine. I’m fine.”

Yoongi nodded, his expression unreadable, but his eyes softened just a little. “Yeah, I get it. I messed up. I just wanted to clear it up. No more weirdness, right?”

Jimin hesitated, but then nodded slowly. “Right. No more weirdness.”

For a moment, they just sat there, neither of them speaking. The park around them felt peaceful, the occasional breeze rustling through the trees. It almost felt normal, in a way.

Jimin wasn’t sure what had changed, but he could sense that Yoongi wasn’t the same person he had been before. Maybe they didn’t need to be best friends, but it felt like there was no need to keep the distance either.

Finally, Yoongi stood up, stretching his arms. “Well, I’m gonna head back. Don’t stay out here too long,” he said casually, not waiting for a response as he started to walk away.

Jimin blinked, surprised at how simple that exchange had been. “Okay,” he mumbled, watching Yoongi walk off.

As Yoongi disappeared from view, Jimin stayed seated for a moment longer, letting the quiet settle around him. Maybe things wouldn’t be the same between them, but it was clear that whatever had been between them before—resentment, guilt, fear—was starting to fade.

And for Jimin, that was enough.
