As Regulus sinks deeper into the murky water, the hands clawing at his skin. Regulus can't help but think about Sirius.
Was he thinking about him? He knew Sirius had no love for him, not since James, and certainly not since he got the dark mark.
Still, he wished for his older brother. Sirius, who snuck into Regulus room after one of their mothers outburst, the one who made him laugh in a house too grim for laughter.

Oh, how he wished he would've followed Sirius to the Potters. If only he hadn't been so bitter, what if he had fought harder to stay in his brothers life even though Sirius had replaced him?
Maybe then he wouldn't be here, in the cold cave, trying to right his wrongs. All to gain back the love his brother once had for him. He knew it wouldn't work, Sirius would never get to know about Regulus sacrifice, but it was nice to think that he wouldn't die with his brother despising him.

In all honesty, he never did hate his brother, not really. How could he? It was his bigger brother, the same one that used to take the blame for the mischief they caused even if it was Regulus fault, all so that their mother wouldn't hurt his little brother as bad. Sirius who snuck into Regulus room at night so they could talk freely and look at the stars they were named after, sometimes having to comfort Regulus after a particularly rough punishment at the hands of their mother.

Yes, Regulus couldn't help but love Sirius. So he took comfort in his thoughts, the thoughts and hope that Sirius would somehow find out that it was him who discovered Voldemorts secret, and that he died trying to stop the death eaters, that he died in the hope of making his older brother proud.

As the water pressure gets too much, Regulus feels like his head is about to explode, *I'm sorry, Sirius.* He thinks to himself as he finally lets the water in. As the water forces its way into his lungs, he realises that it doesn't hurt anymore and he is no longer scared of dying. As Regulus takes his last gurgled gasps, he feels peaceful dying to the memories of his brother, his Sirius.

-Authors note!-

So this is the first time I have published on wattpad that is actually sirius (pun intended) and it is actually because of a tiktok I saw. It was a tiktok about how Sirius and Regulus both said their brothers name as they died, only that Sirius said James name and so I commented part of this short "story" if you will and that gave me an idea to write a little book about headcannons and stuff like that.

The part of Regulus feeling like his head is about to explode while drowning was inspired by Stiles Stilinskis speech in teen wolf!

I hope to post more marauders inspired content and it was quite fun (as well as incredibly sad) to write this so I hope that whoever reads it enjoys it. Thank you and I hope you have a good day/night and future ❤️
