This is NOT the first chapter, it's some information that you might want to know before reading but you absolutely don't have to read all this. You can go straight into the story if you want, and I actually encourage skipping this chapter unless you're really interested or need content warnings!!
In this info section there'll be content warnings, a quick overview of the religions, a quick overview of the magick system, character sheets of the main characters and a map of the world. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the book.

Religions:
Main religion:
The main religion of the Eastern Continent has five gods. Only two of them are commonly referred to.
The main gods are the Great Goddesses Nova and Umbra. Nova is the goddess of the sun, warmth and family. Umbra is the goddess of the moon, protection and lost love. In most mythology, Umbra and Nova are star-crossed lovers, fighting to unite but never able to.
The other three gods include Ceressis (son of Nova), and Friguri and Imu (son and daughter of Umbra). Ceressis is the god of harvest, fertility and wine and there is usually a spring festival for him to hope for good crops. Friguri is the god of winter, hunting and those lost in the snow. He is the least recognised god as his epithets are quite specific but you may see him in more northern areas. Finally, Imu is the goddess of death and protector of lost souls. She cares for those who have died and is prayed to if someone has died and cannot have a funeral in hopes she'll find them and still care for them.Faun/forest species religion:
Their god is named Furne and he is the god of the forest, music and the natural world. If an area worships Furne, music is usually a main part of any celebrations or festivals.~~~~~
Magick:
This world's magick system is currently pretty loose, but the basis is, it takes a lot of energy to use magick and if you're too tired or too sick, you can't use it.
Magick is relatively common, I'd say one in ten people have at least some form of magick but usually it's really simple, like a heightening of a certain sense instead of being able to tear down a city etc. A lot of low-magick users tend to run businesses like washing houses because they can just make simple tasks much easier and quicker to the point it makes decent profit
If you overuse your magick, there's usually physical consequences, the most common being your eyes turning gold as every time someone uses magick their eyes flash gold but if you use it too much, the gold colour burns onto your irises permanently.
Also your magick can hurt you, if you're using a strong spell, it can exhaust you and if you're using a certain type of magick, it doesn't protect you from it. Eg. if you use fire magick and are pointing it at someone but it's too close to you, you will burn.~~~~~
