𝐋𝐘𝐑𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐅𝐋𝐀𝐓 𝐎𝐍 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊, her blue eyes watching the ceiling fan as it rotated slowly. She held her breath, listening for any sounds in the manor's corridors, but none came. It seemed as if everyone had finally gone to sleep.
She slowly rolled out of her bed and tiptoed across her room to begin packing her things. She'd received a patronus message from Aliyah about two hours ago: Operation Jailbreak. She didn't need to think too hard to know that this meant they were coming to get her. She was just grateful that they hadn't turned their backs on her after everything that happened last year.
There was a soft thunk on her bedroom window. She zipped up her bag, threw it over her shoulder, and swiftly ran over.
But there was no one there.
That was until Aliyah lowered the Invisibility Cloak to throw another pebble.
Smart, Lyra thought. She opened up the window, the cool night wind blowing into her bedroom. She took a deep breath before jumping down, landing on her feet with her knees slightly bent for balance. She ran into her best friend's arms, hugging her tightly and blinking back tears.
"Thank you for coming for me, Ali," she whispered.
"What are friends for?" Aliyah replied, placing a quick, chaste kiss to her temple before taking her hand. "Come on. We need to hurry. The others are waiting outside the gate."
They began sprinting down the lawn, but a voice calling after them made them freeze. They turned around; Draco was jogging up to them. Lyra rushed over to him and threw her arms around his shoulders, tucking her face into the crook of his neck.
"I know you can't tell me where you're going," Draco said quietly. "That's okay. I understand. Just. . .promise me you'll be careful, Blondie. And try not to die."
"I will, Dragon," Lyra whispered.
"Oh! And you'll need this." Draco handed her her Aspen wood wand.
Lyra took it with a gasp. "H-How did you—?"
"You're not the only one who's done a lot of sneaking around lately. I managed to swap the one the Dark Lord took from you for the wand of some other Death Eater before he left to ambush Pottah. Now go. I'll distract them if anyone's still up."
Lyra gave Draco one last hug before leaving with Aliyah. They walked down the gravel path towards the front gate.
"Why did You-Know-Who take your wand?" Aliyah asked, frowning softly.
