'K-Kivem hain Pitaji?'
'He'll be fine,' Vishwanath pats his shoulder.
'Paaji, I'll also come home with you,' Amarnath says urgently. 'I want to see Pitaji.'
'No, he said I shouldn't tell you all this. Don't worry about him,' his brother says. 'I'll leave now. Chhe bhaje train hain. And ... that girl ... '
Amarnath closes his eyes. He is not in the frame of mind to hear anything more about her.
' ... tell her thanks,' Vishwanath manages to say, suppressing his pride.
Amarnath blinks in surprise. 'Ji ... ' he nods and bids his brother goodbye.
'Amar,' Murali calls out.
Amarnath turns to look. The last time he'd seen him was on the hospital bed, lying still in a way that caused shivers to run down his spine. His eyes glass over as they hug each other.
'How are you now?' Amarnath asks quietly, pulling back.
'Nothing can happen to me? Who will advise you about life otherwise?' Murali laughs.
' If you're not careful next time, I'll come and shoot you myself, behenchod,' Amarnath growls through gritted teeth.
'Okay, Sir,' Murali grins.
'Who gave you the orders to inspect those warehouses?'
Murali clucks his tongue. 'Why are you worrying about that now-'
'Murali. Who was it?'
'JC ka direct order tha yaar. It seems he said it was urgent.'
Amarnath's face goes dark. 'Haram saalo ka masterplan tha na yeh sab. I'll not leave any of them.'
'You've just come out of a big problem. Why are you so eager to get into a new case again? Forget about it for now.'
'How is Rukmini?'
'Better. She'll be fine.'
'I should've been there with you both in the hospital,' Amarnath says quietly. 'I should've-'
'Enough yaar. Stop blaming yourself,' Murali cuts his words short. 'I'm just glad you're out of jail.'
'You go take rest,' Amarnath puts a hand on his shoulder. 'You scared me in the hospital, idiot.' he holds his face and kisses him on the cheek.
Murali rolls his eyes. 'Why are you kissing me? Go kiss your Gauri. You are in some other mood only today!'
Amarnath swears. 'Go home now. It was a mistake stopping to talk to you,' he turns Murali around and propels him forward.
'Hey, I came to help you. You don't have thoda sa gratefulness also!' Murali hits his leg with the crutch.
'Thanks for your help. Go now,' Amarnath turns to the constable. 'Take him straight to his house and lock him inside.'
'Arre!'
'Leave.'
As Murali leaves with the constable, muttering something, Amarnath looks around, his heart loudly drumming in his ears as his eyes scout for her.

'Come in,' Vidhya Bhushan says, getting up to pick her coat off the chair's backrest as Amarnath knocks on the advocates' room door.
He walks in a little hesitantly. 'Thank you for defending the case... ' He folds his hands.
'You're welcome,' Vidhya Bhushan says and turns to Gauri. 'You can take the rest of the day off.'
