It had been a couple of days since you last saw Aslan. In fact, you never responded to his message. Today you were supposed to see him at band practice. You weren't too excited to say the least.
You were at work with Floch, Levi, and Aurora. Aurora worked at the shop, but you didn't talk to her much. Unfortunately, Sasha had the day off.
You stood behind the counter, ringing up customers. The routine helped keep your mind off things. Floch made the drinks. Levi was his usual quiet self, methodically stocking shelves. Aurora worked in the back, organizing new arrivals.
The steady rain outside matched your mood. You glanced at the clock, knowing band practice was getting closer. You sighed, dreading the meeting with Aslan.
You looked out the window and saw the rain falling under the gray beautiful cloudy skies of Paradis. The October air was cold, making the whole day feel gloomy. It was very slow at sawn and beans due to the cold.
You however loved the cold.
You looked out the window and saw the shops and streets starting to put up pumpkins and spooky decorations.
"Hey Levi, we should put up Halloween decorations, don't you think?" you suggested, leaning on the counter and glancing at him. "We're almost in the middle of October."
Levi grumbled, glancing at you while stocking items on the shelves above. "I'm planning on it. I've just been busy."
"Can I help decorate? I love Halloween," you exclaimed with excitement in your voice.
Levi looked back up and resumed stocking. "Yeah, sure. I'll bring some decorations in this week."
Just then, Floch groaned from across the room, holding a cup of coffee in his hand. "Levi, the stupid coffee machine is broken again."
Levi sighed and walked over to Floch. "Are you serious?" he muttered, pushing him aside. "Tch, move, brat."
Floch looked at you and Aurora, "Why is he so mean?" he mumbled.
Aurora gave a nervous smile, and you shrugged.
Honestly, you loved Levi. You looked up to him, seeing him almost like a father figure even though he's always grumpy.
"I'm not mean. You kids just test my limits," Levi said, once he observed the machine he stood straight and glared at Floch. "For example, the machine was off. You forgot to turn it on."
Floch's face fell as he became visibly nervous. "Sorry, sir..."
You and Aurora stifled giggles. "me personally i would consider firing him," you teased.
"Oh, shut up, yn. You're the one who broke the machine in the first place," Floch retorted, starting to work on the coffee.
You grumbled in response. "I didn't break it."
The truth was, you and Sasha had accidentally broken it while laughing uncontrollably. She had stumbled backward, causing the machine to fall. Levi had been extremely pissed, you and Sasha offered to buy a new one but levi ended up fixing it himself.
"Can you guys get back to work," Levi complained.
You and Floch glared at each other before eventually returning to your tasks. The shop was filled with the scent of coffee and the sound of rain tapping against the windows. The gloomy October weather outside made the cafe feel cozy.
It was currently 5pm, after six hours your shift was finally over you packed your stuff and waved goodbye to everyone.
The rain poured steadily as you drove home. You were quite worried about aslan and the tension between you two. Riley's suspicions about the two of you only added to your anxiety. She had already picked up on the subtle cues, and you dreaded the confrontation that might come.
