The girl, too, felt her heart's beat, In the boy, she found love's sweet heat.
But shadows of the past did loom, Her ex-boyfriend's return spelled doom.
Fear in her eyes, the boy took a break, His heart ached, for her own sake.
Years passed, she moved afar, Chasing dreams, under a distant star.
Nine years gone, she reached out again, To find his heart, to ease her pain.
One night, in a drunken daze, He spoke of love lost in a haze.
"You're the reason I distrust love's lore, I can't marry, my heart is sore."
Yet in his eyes, love still shone, She believed he was her own.
Kept in touch, her hopes so high, Until his fiancée appeared, dreams awry.
Shocked, shattered, her heart did break, Tears flowed for love's lost sake.
She thought he was hers alone, Now his heart to another was shown.
Unbearable pain, her life did end, A love story that couldn't mend.
As he wed, news reached his ear, Her death, his greatest fear.
To her grave, he ran, love's final plea, "I loved you always, why couldn't we be?"
With tears, he bid his last goodbye, A love eternal, in the sky.
