The first rays of the morning sun crept through the curtains, and a young boy stirred slowly, adjusting his eyes to the bright sun upon him. The boy's alarm clock radio suddenly burst to life, the cheerful pop tunes of a popular song filling the silent room. He groaned, reluctantly sitting up and reaching out to hit the snooze button, his eyes still heavy with sleep. As the alarm clock quieted, the boy took a moment to wake up fully. He glanced around his room, taking in the familiar surroundings - his action figures lined up on the shelf, his school books scattered across the desk, and multiple martial arts trophies lined up perfectly above.

"Another boring day..." The boy sighed as he freshened up in the bathroom, grabbed his backpack from the chair next to his desk, and slung it over his shoulder. He glanced over at the mirror in the corner of his room for one last time before heading downstairs.

The boy headed out of his room, making his way down the hallway to the kitchen. He was greeted by the scent of freshly brewed coffee and greasy bacon when he entered. He saw his mother preparing breakfast for his father, who sat at the table with a coffee mug in his hand.

"Good morning, honey!" his mother greeted him as she noticed him entering the kitchen. "I see you're ready for school already. It's quite unlike you, sweetheart."

"What can I say? It's my first day in Sophomore year." The boy replied, smiling at his mother. "I had a weird dream though last night..."

His father took a sip of his coffee, and joined in the conversation, "Did it involve winning the lottery? If so, then that's weird."

"Ha-ha, very funny, Dad. No, it was weird, nonsensical dreams. Stuff that didn't make sense." He replied.

"Ah, those kinds of dreams..." his mother nodded in understanding. "Sometimes, dreams are like that. Nothing but random neurons firing off in your head. Don't worry too much about it."

The boy nodded in agreement, hoping she was right in a way. The conversation shifted to lighter topics as the family had breakfast together before they went on about their day. His father continued to make jokes and he answered his mother's questions about school, feeling a sense of comfort and security in his family. After breakfast, the boy grabbed his backpack and wallet and said goodbye to his parents before leaving for school.

The street outside his home was filled with the usual kids rushing to school. Some walked and rode bikes, and others hurried. The boy joined the stream of students making their way to school.

As the day progressed like usual, it was lunchtime before he knew it. He sat by himself at his usual spot underneath the tree outside. Suddenly, a group of bullies from school swaggering around. The boy grimaced, recognizing the culprits of various acts of bullying. The leader of the group, tall and muscular, a boy named Jake, sauntered over to a nearby table where a couple of nerds ate together.

"Look who it is~ The geek group!" He called out, a smirk on his face as he did. The nerds looked up, their faces falling immediately as they saw who it was. Jake stepped forward, leaning on the table and blocking the nerds' view. "You geeks look like you're asking for a beating."
