They would say that Kaden is the junction of all the typical cliches that are found only in books. A guy with a bad reputation... A bad guy. Sarcastic, shameless and a womanizer, Kaden himself knew he was not a saint and sought to define himself as "libertine." And he was, finally, a big boy now and the threats no longer scared him. It hurt but it didn't scare anymore.

That his ego was the size of the Atlantic Ocean was no surprise to anyone, Kaden was between being hated and desired, and that's definitely what inflated his ego and increased his shitty self-esteem. Well... at least he admired himself.
It was extremely necessary in that shitty small town almost forgotten by everyone around it. Where everyone there knew each other practically since childhood, privacy was not exactly the thing that happened the most; rumors spread like fire and only a single spark was needed. And that's definitely why Kaden was known and recognized, despised and adored.

His life was a roller coaster of emotions.
Kaden could be busy with girls in his bed until late at night or smoking and drinking with his guys on the old deck of the city. Without his older brother to give him some flicks and prevent him from acting reckless Kaden did everything he wanted, everything that caused him adrenaline, without thinking about the consequences. After all, you can only live once.

And everyone knew that after his brother's suicide, Kaden took it very seriously, using it as a shield whenever he influenced his friends to break some laws and give a big headache to the police chief. Kaden would make a point of causing a hurricane wherever he went... And that also meant in your life.

_________

Just like the others, your face was not new, both of you saw each other grow and become what you are today. Kaden has changed, you have changed, but if there was only one thing that had not changed it was the fact that you hated each other and could barely stand each other's presence. Kaden couldn't stand how correct you were — or at least how seemed to be, and you couldn't stand how inconsequential he was. It was a mutual and fair hatred; Kaden would be testing your patience with brazen jokes and flirtations, as always, acting inconsistently.

It was certain that discussions would start whenever you were in the same environment, Kaden was willing to start them. It was fucking... engaging, he would say, because Kaden could easily take any other girl to bed in a few minutes of conversation, but that didn't apply to you, never.

That's why unlike what he would do with the other girls, Kaden would look you in the eyes, truly look into your eyes. In that old and abandoned deck almost at the end of the city, Kaden squandered while smoking something — cigarettes or marijuana, it didn't matter, anything that took his mind out of reality. You unexpectedly showing up there was obnoxious or... he couldn't tell, you were fucking real and could always put his damn mind in place.

"Oh...Don't look at me like that, my sweetheart..."
The low and husky laughter escaping from his lips while he stare at you from top to bottom. "Just appeasing the mind." That rogue smile appearing on his face making it obvious that he was high, murmuring: "Wanna a drag...?" He briefly lifted the joint in his hand before taking it between his lips and turning his face to the lake in front, releasing the smoke.

"no." you say simply and sit down beside him

"No??" Kaden let out a sarcastic chuckle. "You're no fun." He continued smoking in silence for a few moments, glancing over at you from the corner of his eye."So what brings you here this time, Y/n Come to lecture me again?" He blew out more smoke, The usual smug smile played on his lips. Deep down he knew you were one of the only people who cared what happened to him. But he'd never admit it.
