And just like in God's perfect timing, Y/N saw her wife on her way down the stairs, looking down at her feet while she walked.

Y/N waited for her wife, her hands still shaking. When Alice was near her, she made the first move and stood up to hold her wife's hand. Alice looked at her wife's hand, which was now holding hers. The lawyer furrowed her eyebrows. "Why?"

"W-What... Wala ka ba sa mood kanina...?" Y/N asked, hugging her wife. Alice stopped herself from trying to make her wife confess to her. About what she'd done to her.

Gusto niyang manggaling sa bibig ni Y/N mismo ito.

The lawyer sighed, hugging her wife back. "Yeah. Nawala lang sa mood kaya tinulog ko na lang muna."

Alice heard how her wife managed to breathe a sigh of relief when she explained herself. "Anong gusto mong dinner?" Y/N changed the topic.

"Ikaw bahala." Alice said, breaking their hug.

Alice wanted to cry herself out and confront her wife about what she had just seen on her phone earlier. But as she said earlier, she wanted to see if her wife would confess to her herself or if she would rather hide it from her. "Sinigang na hipon?"

She just nodded, looking around their house just to avoid her wife's eyes.

FLASHBACK

The married couple is now seated in the living room of Y/N's unit, watching cartoons (as per Alice's request). Y/N excused herself, leaving her wife alone in the living room. The architect sat in her own office, opening her laptop to review all of the emails that were sent to her.

Meanwhile, Alice was still in the living room, giggling, when a funny scene came up on the television when she heard a ding from her wife's phone that was just beside her. She paused the show that was playing before opening Y/N's phone.

Her heart almost stopped beating when she read the notification. She almost forgot how to breathe when she read what the message contained. It was from someone named Katarina.

Katarina:
Hey, Y/N. I miss you already! Let's meet later for a drink? 😊😘

Alice felt the rush of emotions inside her body. Without knowing, she dropped Y/N's phone on the floor. She stared at the empty space, her tears welling up from the corner of her eyes. She took a deep breath before picking up Y/N's phone and placing it from where it was earlier.

She sat back on her original seat, a tear rolling down her cheek. She covered her mouth to muffle the sounds of her crying. Her whole body was shaking in extreme agony. She couldn't think of any reason why her wife would cheat on her with another woman.

"Was I not enough?" Alice thought to herself.

She wanted to stop crying because, after all, her wife was just inside the room behind her.

END OF FLASHBACK

Alice looked at her wife who's now in the kitchen, preparing the ingredients that she'd be needing. Honestly, the lawyer doesn't know how to react. Sad? Disappointed? Angry?

When Y/N was done cooking, she approached her wife again. "Can we talk, Alice?" Y/N softly asked, sitting beside her wife on the couch.

Y/N maintained a safe distance between her and her wife, giving Alice space so she would still be comfortable. The lawyer nodded, sighing.

"Did you open my phone earlier? Nu'ng nasa loob ako ng room?" the architect gently asked, her tone soft.

Alice took a deep breath before nodding her head. She could already feel her eyes filling up with tears again as her wife opened the topic. "I-I saw the message... 'Y-Yung kay K-Katarina..."

Y/N felt a lump building on her throat, making her unable to speak. Alice raised her head to look into her wife's eyes with her own bloodshot eyes. It made the architect's heart sink upon seeing the state her wife is in right now. Especially knowing that it was her fault. "W-Who is she, Y/N?"

The architect sighed before explaining. She could feel her own tears building up, too.

"Nakilala ko siya sa club... Du'n sa club na palagi naming pinupuntahan with my co-workers. Remember nu'ng nag-away tayo tapos umabot sa point na we considered having annulment? Biglang sumulpot si Katarina nu'n."

"...Nothing happened between us, Alice... Kung ayun man ang iniisip mo. Never in my life na inisip kong lokohin ka, kahit we're not in good terms, I vowed na never kitang lolokohin, Alice."

Y/N reached out to her wife's hands, holding it tightly before continuing to explain.

"How would I believe you na walang nangyari sa inyo, Y/N? I-I mean... Kayang-kaya mong ibahin ang kwento anytime, so how would I believe you that you're telling the truth?" Alice questioned, a hiccup coming out from her lips while tears continued to stream down her cheeks.

"You can ask her, love. She knows about you, she knows that I'm married. Never siyang nagbanta na may masimulan kami, at kahit mayroon man, hinding hindi ako bibigay. Mahal kita, Alice. Ikaw lang ang mahal ko." Y/N explained once again, holding her wife's hand tighter while stroking Alice's cheek gently.

"I-I'm sorry..." the lawyer apologized, inching closer to lean on her wife's chest. "Bakit ka nag so-sorry? Hindi mo naman kasalanan... It's my fault for not being open with you."

"P-Pareho tayong mali..." Alice corrected, closing her eyes while trying to catch her breath. Y/N sighed, rubbing Alice's back. "I'm sorry, love. I'm sorry for making you worried, I'm sorry for not being open to you about the people I talk to... Pero sana ngayon na-clear ko na, hm?"

"So... Katarina is j-just a friend?"

"Mhm. Katarina is just a friend, love. You don't have to worry about anything." Y/N said, planting a small kiss on her wife's forehead. Alice sniffed, hugging her wife's neck.

"I'll give you space for a while. Do you want?" the architect softly murmured, peppering her wife's forehead with soft fluttery kisses.

"N-No! I-I... I want to stay close to you..." Alice exclaimed, even though her voice was raspy with all of the crying that she did. Y/N managed to elicit a small laugh, making the lawyer pout on her neck. "Are you sure? You don't need time for yourself?" Y/N asked again, wanting to make sure.

"Baka laruin ko pa 'yung sarili ko kapag lumayo ka sa akin." Alice straightforwardly said, not even stuttering or anything. "Shhh... Ang bibig mo talaga, pipitikin ko na 'yan."

Alice giggled softly, then burrying her face on her wife's shirt. "We're good now? Gusto mo ba siya kausapin right now?"

"N-No... 'Wag muna siguro..." Y/N nodded, sighing before kissing her wife's lips softly.

"Mahal na mahal kita. At ikaw lang ang mamahalin ko ng ganito, Alice."
