Let it be known that Scott Reed was an absolute godsend to Nessa Dempsey. Ever since the day that he had pulled her out of her own misery post-breakup, the two had spent quite a bit of time together.

It wasn't always easy, and it wasn't always full of fun conversations, but it was so good for Nessa. He had done so much for her, which is why she put one foot in front of the other and walked into the Walker mansion with Scott by her side.

"Thank you for coming with me." Scott said as they walked into the mansion, immediately noting the amount of people that were there. "It means a lot."

"I didn't even hesitate." Nessa told him with a forced smile on her face. It was true, she didn't. Scott didn't even dream of asking her, she simply offered.

"What are we watching today?" Scott asked as he threw himself onto Nessa's bed, wrinkling her comforter with his weight as he grabbed the remote, turning the TV on.

Nessa shrugged as she sat next to him, keeping a careful and friendly distance. "Up to you."

"Pitch Perfect it is." Scott said with a cunning smile as he flipped through the streaming services on Nessa's TV. She watched as he did so, subtly admiring his features.

The two had been hanging out for a few weeks since the summer began, and Nessa enjoyed every minute of it. She loved having someone she could talk to that wasn't Zach, Justin or Jessica, because as much as she loved all three of them, sometimes she just wanted someone that was just hers.

The beautiful thing about their friendship was that she never had to share Scott. He was friends with everyone in their group, but he was Nessa's, and she loved that.

What she didn't love was the warm and fuzzy feeling that she got in her stomach every time she saw him, or hugged him, or got too close to him. She had to make sure she kept her distance anytime they were watching a movie, walking the trail behind her house, or driving around the town.

It had been about two months since she and Alex had broken up, and they were pretty much on the outs. It was something that Nessa really struggled with, due to the fact that for a long, long time, Alex was her person. What Scott was becoming was what Alex used to be, and it made her upset. It meant that like it or not, she was moving on.

Scott leaned up against Nessa's headboard, an arm resting behind his head as he watched the movie, and also watched the girl beside him. Scott had always thought she was beautiful, sweet, and overall amazing. She was the glue that held their dysfunctional group of jocks together, and she was always around. This led to not so much of a crush, but a lust for the girl. It wasn't uncommon between their group, everyone thought she was beautiful. Everyone also kept their distance – except Montgomery that one night freshman year — due to Zach. He would seriously hurt anyone that came near her.

Truth be told, ever since their kiss at the Winter Formal, Scott really liked Nessa. However, she soon popped out in a relationship with Alex and that seemed like it would never end. When it did, he finally saw his chance, and he was going to take it.

"I love how much you love this movie, Scotty." Nessa said through a chuckle as she watched him mouth the words to one of the songs in the movie.
