THE HAUNTED HEART : FULL MOON

Chapter 11

Kiernan sat down on the chair as he waited for Kai to finish up cooking. Kai has always been cooking for himself since elementary, the reason might be because he doesn't have someone to cook for him...  So he gradually got better at it.

It became a routine for Kai to cook egg and bacons for Kiernan every morning before going to the campus, since the moment Kiernan was fed by this food on his first morning in Kai's apartment, it became his favorite dish to eat... and tons of other foods...

"Here, I'll be going now, eat some food on the fridge if you're hungry later, and call me through that telephone if something happens like I taught you"

As Kai removed his apron, he picked a bread to eat and walked towards the door as he nagged at Kiernan, Kiernan  didn't really minded him and just kept on eating his food, he always looked as laid-back as he can.

6:30, Kai checked the time on his watch and he always felt weird with the new experience of not waiting infront of the campus anymore since the day Kiernan lived with him. 

Although, his insomnia was still the same.. he couldn't just go out of the apartment and leave Kiernan alone not knowing what to do in the house since he also has this strong sense of responsibility, even if he's instinct was always warning him that the man is dangerous....

"Hey, Kai! good morning! early as usual it seems"

"Yeah, mornin' "

Jett greeted Kai as he sat down besides him. He stared at Kai and wanted to question him so bad as to what happened to him yesterday. After Kai abruptly ended the call, he was worried that something might've happened to him, but after seeing him smiling today while studying on his textbook as usual, he just didn't minded it, since he seems to be fine.

"Kai! Morning!"

"Hey"

Kai and Jett turned their heads simultaneously as Austin and Wilder greeted them. Jett was amazed that they were able to attend classes without being late, and Wilder scolded him for that...

"So, Kai~ how are you and Kiernan? Any news for us?"

Jett immediately covered his face with his hands as if slapping himself due to the shock and disbelief he felt as Austin questioned Kai. He knew Austin would definitely stick his nose in their business, but he didn't expected him to ask right away, and  then he sighed and just let it go because he was also curious.

Kai, who was also taken aback by Austin's question remembered a memory he wanted to forget since this morning, and he suddenly turned red.

"I don't really.... have one.."

"What?" "What?" "What?"

Jett, Austin, and Wilder's jaws dropped while questioning Kai at the same time. They were flabbergasted by Kai's expression that they've never seen on his face. His shy and blushing expression that they'd kill to see was something that they've never expected.

"Something happened?! SOMETHING HAPPENED?!"

"Hey! You there! Tune it down!"

Wilder forcibly covered Austin's mouth as he was too loud that even the professor scolded him.

"Let's go for a drink! It's been a while since we had one, my treat!"

Jett proposed to his friends to have drinks. As always, Austin was over the moon, Kai, however, wasn't looking forward to it. He have to go home right after school, since it's also his responsibility to cook food for Kiernan.

Another reason was that Kiernan strangely feels anxious when Kai is not around, but he got used to Kai going out in the morning or noon and sometimes comes back in the afternoon, because Kai explained that he needed to go to college and if he comes back at night, it has to be around six to seven.

"I'm sorry, I'm afraid I can't go, I have to go home as soo--"

"OOPS! Kai is not allowed to reject us!"

When Kai was about to walk off, Jett and Austin immediately grabbed his arms tightly and dragged him so he wouldn't escape.

"Come on, Kai, it's been a while since the four of us actually hung out like this... It's okay to leave Kiernan alone right? I mean he's big enough to figure out what to do on his own"

Wilder tried to convinced Kai in view of the fact that he's been having this worried look since they came in the restaurant. Kai only smiled as a response.

It was packed with people, and they've only arrived about a couple of minutes ago. They started drinking and talking about going to another abandoned place that they want to explore.

"Haven't you two had enough? The church was alread bad enough..... That it even led to Kai living with a person with a loose screw on his head, just because he doesn't have anywhere to live after staying in that church his whole life"

"Ugh! It still irks me whenever I think about it.. I mean how could he have stayed there so long with an environment like that? He even has an illness right?"

"Well... He must have a great survival skill... Anyway! I uploaded the video, and it was a hit!"

As Kai's friends continued their conversation, he remained silent and  listened while they talked and talked and he kept drinking until he got tipsy. After a while, he scanned the place that was brimming with people, and it was lively. Most of them were young,the restaurant is famous for college students since it's near the campus.

As Kai watched people go in and out of the restaurant, he saw a woman standing infront of the glass door... She was wearing a red dress, with her straight, long and pitch black hair untied, and with such a pale complexion. She reminded him of Kiernan who had the same features.

A sudden group of people came in the restaurant, and Kai was looking for the woman, but she was already gone before he could even walk towards the door. Kai's friends were even confused why he suddenly stood up.

Kai rubbed the tip of his nose, he knew in that moment that before those group of people came in, he saw the woman smile at him as she stared intensely.

"Um... I'm sorry, but I have to go home now.. "

Kai stood up, put on his bag and walked out of the restaurant as if he was in a hurry.

"Kai?! Where are you going?!"
