It's almost time for the midnight fireworks but it still felt like the night is young for Claudine. She's already had one too many drinks, pero hindi nauubos ang laman ng kanyang baso. Paano ba naman, ang maid of honor na si Bianca ay patuloy na sinasalinan ito kada iinom sya.
Kahit medyo light-headed na siya, ramdam niya pa rin ang feeling na parang may nakatingin sa kanya. Looking around, it just confirmed her hunch.
Familiar eyes. Familiar face. Familiar smile.
Ahh... ex niya.
Rico Yan lang naman.
Crush na naman siya for sure.
Ganda nya kaya everyday. Lalo today.
Claudine just gave a small smile in acknowledgement before busying herself with another glass of champagne at pinanood ang nagsasayaw na bagong kasal sa dance floor.
"Nakakarami ka na ha." Rico's voice was gentle behind her bago ito humila ng silya at umupo sa tabi niya. "Mas mabilis makalasing ang champagne, Dine."
Claudine hoped he wouldn't notice the flushing in her cheeks because of what he said. That, or isipin na lang ni Rico na lasing na sya.
"I'm fine, Rico. Malakas ang alcohol tolerance ko, alam mo yun diba?"
"I do. Kaya if I remember correctly, after a bottle of champagne, medyo di na okay for you." He said matter of factly. As if kilalang kilala sya. As if sya pa din yung Claudine na kilala nito two years ago bago sila magbreak.
"Well, Mr. Rico. My tolerance has gotten higher since then."
"Oo nga!" biglang singit ni Bianca, pouring more drink in her champagne flute bago umikot sa ibang kaibigan to do the same at magsayaw pagtapos.
Rico snatched her glass and downed it.
"A-" Claudine glared at him. "Why don't you go bother someone else, Rico?"
"We have some unfinished business, Dine."
Ayan na naman. Ginamit na naman nito ang nickname nya. It used to feel so good to hear it back then.
It still feels good to hear it now.
Wait, what?
"No, we do not, Ric." sagot ni Claudine.
"Op-" Rico smirked. He caught that. She used his actual nickname.
"Rico. I said Rico."
"No, I heard you ha." Nangingiti nitong sabi. "I heard that."
Inulit pa. Hayop talaga.
Umirap si Claudine. "This conversation is over." Tumayo sya para lumayo pero tumayo din si Rico at hinawakan ang kanyang kamay para pigilan siya.
