Demi
I could tell something was up with Wilmer. He held my hand in the car when we went on our usual Friday night date and he was sweaty and clammy. He's usually never nervous around me, he claimed that I kept him calm when he's in difficult situations.
"Babe?" I asked as he fidgeted nervously at a red light, and he looked over at me. "Are you okay?"
He nodded quickly, "Fine. Just stressed about some work stuff."
I smirked and leaned over, kissing his cheek and letting my teeth graze over my earlobe, "Maybe after dinner I can held take away some of that stress."
He laughed nervously and nodded, "Okay."
I huffed and sat back in the seat, "Okay this has to be big, what's wrong?"
Wilmer shrugged, "It's nothing, don't worry about it baby."
I rolled my eyes, "Yeah, like that's going to happen." I gripped his hand and turned his chin to look at me as we stopped for another light, "Talk to me." I murmured, stroking his jawline.
"I've just been doing a lot of new investments babe, it's all financials and politics. Plus with the third season of minority report coming up I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed."
I pouted and played with the hair on the back of his neck, "I'm sure it'll all work out baby, you'll see."
Wilmer shot me a grateful smile and interlocked our fingers, kissing the back of my hand, "I know it will. As long as I've got you I'll be good."
I was grinning like mad as we pulled up to the restaurant.
"Are they closed?" I asked, as I saw the place was dark and there was no one in sight.
Wilmer's brow was furrowed, "I don't know, let's have a look around."
He took my hand and we walked to the door. Surprisingly, it was open, and no one was inside. We walked quietly through the dark room until I stopped and took my hand out of his.
"Babe I don't think we're supposed to be in here..." I suddenly realized that I was alone. "Wilmer?" I turned in a circle slowly, "Baby... I swear to God if you..."
All of a sudden fairly lights all around me lit up and illuminated the dark space around me. There was a single table in the center of the room with rose petals all around me. Soft music floated through the air and reached my ears. It was a slow and beautiful song with a piano as the only instrument. I was now less scared and more curious as I looked around.
"Hermosa."
I spun around and gasped as I saw him behind me, on one knee. Immediately I threw my hands in front of my mouth and gasped, "What is this?"
He gave me a soft smile and took my hand, "It's exactly what you think it is... Demetria Devonne Lovato, I've loved you since the second I saw you eight years ago. We've gone through so much together and it's only the beginning of our journey together. Our love isn't perfect, but it's pure, and it's good. I love you with everything I have and I want to show that to you in the most intimate way possible. I promise to love you every second of everyday until the end of our lives together. I promise to protect you from your inner demons, and all those around you who doubt you. I promise to hold you when the world gets too loud, and to help lift you up in your successes. I will never let a day go back in which I don't tell you that I love you. Demi, Hermosa, Will you do me the honor of being my wife?"
I stared down at him with an awestruck expression, "You're serious? You're not shitting me?"
He let out a chuckle, "I assure you, I am not shitting you right now."
I threw my arms around his neck, knocking us both to the floor, me on top of his chest, "One hundred times yes baby. What took you so long?"
Wilmer cupped my cheek and stared deep into my eyes, "I guess I just had to find the right words to say."
I leaned down and kissed him gently, "I love you so much."
He chuckled, "Good, because I love you too."
The rest of the night I couldn't help but stare at the ring whenever I could. Wilmer had rented the entire place out so we were being waited on hand and foot. When we finished dinner we spun in gentle circles as more music played and I kept my head resting on his chest.
"We're gonna be married."
He rubbed my back gently, "Yes, we are."
I looked up at him, "You thought this through right? I mean, you know what you're getting yourself into?"
Wilmer laughed and kissed my forehead, "Yes nena, I know exactly what I'm getting myself into, and I absolutely cannot wait for every second of it."
I grinned up at him cheesily, "Good."
