Chapter 18: Tidbits

From the moment Qin An steps inside the room, the noise quickly disappears and the four young men inside look towards the door where he was in.

Qin An saw two wearing the badges of Class F while the other two were wearing their own classes respectively. He Yan has the Class S, while the other one is wearing Class C.

Qin An only paused for a moment before he entered and went to the vacant bed on the corner. While he was busy packing his clothes, he could feel the frequent gazes behind him which he didn't bother to care about.

It was only when he felt someone behind him that he stopped what he's doing and looked back, only to see He Yan. The young man doesn't have the usual sunny appearance like he usually has. Instead, its face was slightly red and his eyes were looking everywhere except him.

Qin An paused and raised his brow . What's the matter with this kid?

Qin An waited for him to speak but even after a few seconds, He Yan still couldn't open his mouth to begin so he was about to turn his back and just continue what he was doing when one of the trainees wearing the Class F broke the ice.

"Qin An, He Yan wants to say something to you."

Upon hearing that, he finally looks at the young man in front of him but still, the latter keeps on fidgeting around.

Qin An: "...." Will he have to wait until he'll speak?

So he just decides to speak this time. "What is it?" His voice was plain and distant, mainly just his usual voice yet it made the latter flinch a bit before He Yan suddenly stood up straight.

His face is still red but he looks at Qin An with determination this time.

"I-I..." Its voice cracks even before it completes what he's saying. "... I-I— m-my name is He Yan. W-What... W-What about you?"

"...."

What about him?! The young men's gaze met for a second and they could see the speechlessness on it. Why is he asking Qin An's name?! Is it already obvious?!

Qin An also looks at him with the same gaze as others. Probably realizing what he just said, He Yan's face turned redder and his straight back bent in embarrassment.

Seeing this, Xing Ren, who's wearing the Class F stood up and went beside them. He looks at Qin An with an apologetic smile and speaks. "I'm sorry, Qin An. He Yan meant that he wants to properly introduce himself. After all, we really didn't introduce each other, right?"

That's true. Because they already know the names of the participants from the audition, they didn't introduce themselves anymore and just got together directly. It was only He Yan's nervousness that made him speak like that.

Qin An just nodded so Xing Ren smiled again and touched He Yan's elbow. His eyes gesture something so He Yan looks at him again hesitantly.

"T-Then... I look forward to working together soon?"

Qin An looked at the young man in front of him. He Yan is actually one of those who's not malicious at him and just by seeing his attitude towards him today, he knew that this guy just wanted to get along with him.

But... friend is a distant word for him.

As far as he remembered, he never had someone whom he always got along with in his previous life. It's not that no one wants to, it's just that no one dares to. And because of his cold personality and he himself is not interested, everyone seems to know not to be together with him tactically so they just treated each other all as colleagues. Nothing more and nothing less.
