I took a deep breath as I finally escaped from the party, stepping out onto the warm concrete streets.
I had experienced more life in the past few hours than I had in my entire eighteen years.
Aubrey was not what I had imagined. He was soft and kind beneath his larger-than-life exterior.
Being close to him was difficult, knowing everything I knew and feeling so drawn to him.
What the hell was that?
It was like little electric vibrations through my body, the way I usually felt when completing spells, but somehow more intense.
Why had I agreed to meet him again?
I wasn't thinking.
Besides the black magic, I'd never felt it in-person before but It made my blood freeze and my heart ache; it was unmistakable.
I yawned heavily as I walked down the road. I was exhausted. I was far too exhausted to fly home, and besides, I had agreed to see him tomorrow, so there would have been no point.
What to do, what to do.
I had no cash, my cell was dead, and suddenly it dawned on me that I was in the middle of a strange city with no idea where to go.
I looked around and saw a park not too far away.
"Remember, it's dangerous for a young girl alone at night," I heard my mother's voice say.
Well, to hell with it! I was a witch; it was dangerous for them to be near me.
I checked my pocket for my folded-up broom. As long as I had that, I knew I would be somewhat safe.
I arrived at the park and immediately felt a wave of relief.
How could anyone live in a cement-filled city like this? It was oppressive! The large trees greeted me warmly, and I looked up happily at the dotted stars.
It looked like there were a couple of lakes in this park, no running water, but that was okay; I'd make do.
Soon, I found a nice quiet spot nestled deep within the forest area among the trees. I walked behind a large stump and took a deep breath.
Comfort. Sleep. Safety. Comfort. Sleep. Safety.
Slowly but surely, I felt the elements joining together in my favor. Vines were crackling, and I could feel the fusion coming.
Sleep. Sleep. Sleep...
I opened my eyes to a little vine-created hut, nestled behind the back of the tree stump.
It was perfectly formed, with a door that opened up to the interior that had a singular pillow and quilt. It was tiny and not exactly what I had been going for, but even with the channelling, my powers were weak.
