season three, episode eight: in high school, even on a good day, it's hard to tell who's on your side

"You are fucking kidding me."

Those were the only words that could possibly leave Nessa's mouth as she walked through the hallways of Liberty High School, backpack perched atop her shoulders as she witnessed the ending of what looked like it had the potential to be a very physical fight between Alex and Justin, ending only due to Clay Jensen breaking it up.

"Give me strength." Nessa muttered to herself as she walked up to the group of three boys, forcing herself to completely ignore the presence of her ex boyfriend as she greeted Justin and Clay, who both wore extremely worried expressions on their faces as they looked down the hallway at a familiar figure.

"Jensens." Nessa said as she wrapped her arms around both boys, specifically not greeting Alex beside them, which only pissed him off. He scoffed, then realized that her cold nature toward him was absolutely, positively his fault.

"What the hell is he doing here?" Justin asked in a hushed tone and Nessa followed his eyes down the hallway, seeing none other than Kevin Porter standing there, hands in his pockets as he looked around the hallways he once worked in.

"One day." Nessa said as she looked over at the counselor. "All I'm asking for is one fucking day."

"Look, I'm telling you guys, it was Porter with the Sheriff." Clay said to Nessa, Tony and Tyler in their second period class as he informed the latter two of the unwelcome guest that graced the school today.

Tony tensed up, trying to think of an explanation that wasn't the worst case scenario. "Why the hell would he come back here?"

"Not sure, but I'd love it if he fucked off." Nessa muttered as she scribbled on her paper, and the boys just looked at her. They knew good and well how she felt about Kevin Porter.

"It's gotta be about Bryce, right?" Clay asked, but it sounded like he was trying to convince himself more than he was trying to convince Tony.

Tyler shrunk a bit in his seat, the nerves setting in as he spoke. "What if he knows about me, somehow?"

This was enough for Nessa to put her pencil down and share a nervous look with the boys sitting at her table, a breathy exhale coming from her as she ran her fingers through her hair.

"It has to be about Bryce." Nessa stated, trying to calm the boy down.

The door opened, and the Vice Principal stepped in, the clicking of her heels announcing her entrance as all four students at the table turned to look over at the door. "Mrs. Adams, Tyler Down is needed in the principal's office."

Nessa's stomach churned, which was becoming quite a normal feeling for the girl – she had even stopped eating breakfast in the mornings, but that helped none. She shared a panicked look with the boys at the table before Tyler grabbed his belongings and followed the vice principal out the door, leaving Clay, Nessa and Tony to squirm in their seats.

"If this is about you, and they're starting with him–" Tony whispered, gesturing towards Clay.

"We are all so fucked." Nessa finished as she laid her head on the desk, holding in a scream.
