coming through - chapter one

"Sorry, your card is declined"
"WHAT?! WHY?! I just got paid!"
"Tobi, calm down, I'll pay for it"
"Fine," Tobi says still disappointed "I'll pay you back when I can Josh"
Josh pays for food and they head out of the supermarket with their food, they have been roommates for at least 2 years since Tobi graduated school, Tobi would usually buy the food and pay half the rent well Josh had to do the chores around the house and pay the other half of the rent
"Remember this month is your half of the bills Josh," Tobi said, Josh glared at Tobi and said, "You think I don't know that" Tobi was about to reply when he heard a truck horn, he didn't have any time to react the truck hit him dead on, Josh was able to dodge out of the way, but he lay there looking at Tobi's corpse the only words he could mutter were "No...my food..." Before he got hit by a truck himself

Tobi woke up and analyzed his surroundings, it looked like a black room with nothing it even felt like he was floating in nothing, the strange part was he couldn't breathe he tried breathing but he couldn't but he didn't hurt, was this death?

The next thing he saw was a light sky blue menu like in video games pop up in front of him, the menu read - "you died to a speeding truck that was being driven by a group of criminals that had just recently robbed a bank" Tobi tried speaking but no words came out 'so I did die' he thought to himself  'but what about Josh? Is he still alive?'

As if on cue, the menu text changed to say - "your companion Josh has also died to the same group of criminals just a different truck" 'Well that's just great' Tobi thought to himself

The menu then split into two smaller menus and another menu bigger than the two popped up stating - "please select your race" Then on the two smaller menus multiple different races popped up, and the text on the bigger menu then changed to say - "please, choose carefully you may not choose a different race once a race has been selected" Tobi looked around the different races, every single time he clicked on one it would show the stats of the race, at one point he was going to choose berserker but he changed his mind

Then his eyes caught two races, Angel and demon races, the angel race would buff all light magic and healing magic and would purify anything evil by the touch depending on the user's level, the demon race was the complete opposite, the demon race would give a buff to dark magic and strength magic and would corrupt anything by the touch, he would have to look into those races later on but figured he should find a different race

He then saw a tab that said show all, he clicked the tab and immediately thousands upon thousands of more races popped up with their selective category

As he was looking at all the races he felt a slight sensation in his right arm, he looked to his right to see something odd he didn't know what it was and tried to move but couldn't move he reached for it but couldn't get close enough, he was determined to find out what it was he thought 'if I'm dead I might as well push myself to find out what this is' he pushed and slowly very slowly made his way over to it, it felt like days upon days had gone by he didn't even know if time was real anymore, but he pushed he didn't feel anything but it just was super hard to go but then he hit a wall then a menu popped up stating - "restricted zone, danger, head back immediately"

something snapped in him though he didn't know what it was but maybe he was just tired of everything and because he died he didn't care but he punched the screen and it cracked, he got as close to the wall as possible and stretched out his hand he could feel the sensation growing with every single inch that he got closer, his hand finally caught on to something it was like a bar, he pulled with all of his night and somehow pulled himself through the wall, now past the wall he could see what the thing was, it was like a glitch but then the glitch took form and then the form got texture than color and then Tobi saw what it was it was him

A new race tab had popped up called - "unknown"

He pushed it, nothing happened, he pushed it again, nothing happened, he pushed held yet nothing he did would work, but then he looked up and saw that the figure was copying him, he put his hand out and reached and so did the figure, every move he made so did the figure it's like their minds were connected, he tried to move forward but he couldn't, he tried even harder, he couldn't, it was like something was pushing him back now instead of a wall

But then the figure started going back too, so many thoughts flashed through his head, his loved ones, his friends,  his family, Josh, he had to find Josh

He pushed so hard that somehow after not feeling anything he felt something that felt like pain, menus popped up all around him saying - "warning! Danger!" and all of that, but he didn't look he looked ahead towards the figure the figure followed his movements of Tobi pushing forward, then it became so overwhelming that he was pushed to the floor, but he crawled forward, strangely the figure did not fall but kept walking forward towards him, the figure then put out its hand for Tobi to grab

Tobi lifted his hand, but immediately the hand was pushed down, it felt like gravity was so high he was on Jupiter, the figure stood there with its hand still extended Tobi picked up his hand and with all of his mind put his hand in the figure's hand

Tobi woke up in shock, he felt the wind in his face and the grass below him, where was he?

He picked up his hands to look at them, they were clean the nails were trimmed finely and there were no cuts nor scars on his hands he used to have in his past life, he looked down and realized he was naked,

"Crap! Why am I naked!?" He asked himself, he stopped for a second he sounded different, everything about this was different, he looked around and found what looked to be a broken-down Castle it was still sort of intact but a few walls had fallen from the looks of it, he headed towards it covering himself with his hands, inside he looked around trying to find something he could at least put on

He was looking around when he stepped on something that made a crunch, he looked down to see that he had stepped on a skeleton skull he jumped out of fear but then looked at it it had a white shirt and brown pants on it

"Welp at least it's something," Tobi said before putting it on he was glad that he could walk around freely now but he did not know where he was, so he decided to explore the broken Castle a bit more he found a metal glove piece, some worn-down sandals, and a coin pouch with a bit of silver and copper in it, while exploring he would sometimes hear rubble fall and what sounded like footsteps

"Hello?" Tobi called out to which the footsteps stopped, he also stopped, he slowly walked forward and in front of him he saw a shadow

"Hello?" He called out again
"Who is it?" The person asked, Tobi didn't know how to respond, no one knew his name here, no one knew even who he was he had no parents, no nothing, he didn't even know who he was, how was he supposed to answer but with the only thing he knew
"Tobi..." He said
"To-Tobi?" The person asked
"Yes...who are you?" Tobi asked, no answer no nothing

The person then started walking towards him, and Tobi started backing up, but the person came through the doorway of the broken-down Castle, he had brown hair green eyes rugged clothes but didn't look dirty whatsoever besides a few patches of dust on his skin he wasn't too tall he was average height for what most people would consider in his world, he then smiled and said "Tobi it's me, Josh"
