A person of interest.

Those were the words in the article that made Nessa's eyes bulge out of her head as she woke up the next morning and read the article that the newspaper published about Bryce's murder investigation, and namely Clay Jensen, who was their number one suspect.

Nessa thought it was ridiculous, truly. After all of the work that she, and all of her friends, had done to defend and protect him, the cops still think that he had something to do about it. She knew that wasn't true at all, and she knew why. But, she kept her mouth shut.

She walked through the hallways with Zach by her side, eager to find Jessica to talk to her about this, but more importantly, to finally tell her the big secret that she had been keeping from her for months and to revel in the fact that she finally had sex. Good fucking sex.

It had kept her up all night, the pride that she felt in herself for finally being able to partake in the activity again. She had excitedly told Zach on the drive to school, who was absolutely disgusted hearing about his sister's newfound sex life with one of his teammates. Nonetheless, he was proud of her, even if he didn't show it.

Clay appeared in a panicked state in front of both of the Dempsey siblings, and Nessa was completely unsure of what to say to him. What could she say to the cops' newest suspect?

"Hey, Clay." Nessa said bleakly. "How are you?"

Clay took a breath. "Fine, can I talk to you two?"

Nessa looked up at Zach, who shared the same look with her. Stupid twin telepathy. "Yeah, sure." they both said synchronously. Clay gave them a judgemental look as he led them to an empty classroom.

"Twins are weird." he muttered as they sat down and he explained the bottle of pills that he had found in Justin's bag, and whose name was on the pill bottle.

"That little shit." Nessa said as she grimaced, shaking her head. "I'm going to kill him."

"No, you're not." Zach said sharply as he pushed Nessa's hands down in front of her. "No way. If Justin were using, he would have been caught. We were tested."

Clay sighed, blinking as he tried to gather his thoughts. "Well, he told me he only used once a few weeks ago. Would that have been after you got tested?"

"Maybe he got lucky and the timing worked out, I don't know." Zach tried to reason, and Nessa believed him. She felt like she would know if Justin was using again, she noticed those things about him.

"Or maybe you knew he was using and you helped him?" Clay suggested, and Nessa stifled a laugh.

"This guy?" she laughed, pointing to Zach. "No way. He once found a bag of weed in my room that wasn't even mine and lectured me harder than our mother would. And let's not forget how he reacted when he found out I did molly."

Zach cut his eyes at her, rolling them before he looked back at Clay. "No. No way. I won't put up with that shit, okay? We play clean."

"See." Nessa said as she looked over at him matter-of-factly. "He would never."

Zach sighed, an uncomfortable silence washing over the three as nobody quite knew what to say. "He's been doing well, Clay. Football's been good for him, you know it has. He's healthy."
