Her life was a stagnant motion, life was filled with more and more days to go through as quickly as the pages in her notebook.

To be a woman is to be expected to be beautiful and no one in that school knew that better than Yuko Ozawa. She was noticeably chubbier than all the other girls in class and could constantly feel the way people couldn't quite register her experience as a human. She was quiet and kept mostly to herself. Girls treated her as an ego boost to confirm their beauty. But the guys ranged from indifferent to outright cruel. Occasionally she would accidentally overhear herself being the butt of the joke. She thought that was what was going on right at that moment but it wasn't.

"Okay, so which girl in our class do you like Itadori?" Asked a boy in her class

Yuko knew she shouldn't eavesdrop on their conversation but curiosity got the better of her and it's not like she would even have anyone to gossip to.

"I don't like any of them" replied Itadori

"Yeah but if you had to pick one..." chimed in another classmate

"Huh, why?..." he thought for a minute before saying "Well if I had to pick... I guess..."

Yuko was bracing herself to have insider knowledge of who this guy had a crush on. What she least expected was his actual answer.

"Ozawa" he finally answered

This came as a shock to not only her but also the guy pestering him with the question. Causing them to voice their disbelief.

"No way man you're crazy, she's fat!" One of them exclaimed with a disapproving tone.

At this Yuko was brought back to reality and no longer in the make-believe land where a boy in her class could find her the least bit desirable or even just not be repulsed by her very being.

To that, Itadori replied, " Is she? She's thoughtful and neat, you can see it in the way she eats and writes. I think that's kinda cool".

Yuko of course knew that Itadori was not interested in her romantically but at that moment she couldn't help but develop a crush on him for the simple reason that he saw her as not just a girl but a human being and he paid attention to small details that anyone else would be hard pressed to notice.

She wouldn't delude herself into thinking she had a chance with a guy like Itadori, much less would she want to make her feelings his problem especially when her parents had told her that would be moving to Tokyo once she was to enter high school.

Since the day she overheard Itadori in the classroom, she hadn't ever approached him but before she moved away for good she wanted to ask him for his number. On the day of graduation she went up to him intending to get his number but in the end, only asked him for a photo together. But in some ways, she cherished how that image of him would always be preserved because she never gave him the chance to reject her.
