"Am I finally allowed to beat Montgomery de la Cruz into the ground?" Nessa asked excitedly as she followed Jessica down the halls to the locker room, where football practice was getting released. She hoped that Scott would not be in attendance, and if he was, that he would be nowhere near this little scene, considering he was never around Montgomery longer than he had to be.

"Yes, because I'm sending you in alone." Jessica said smugly.

"What?" Nessa cried as she stopped in her tracks. "We were supposed to do this together!"

"He's more likely to listen to anything that comes out of your mouth, Nessa." Jessica told her as she hid behind a stretch of lockers. "You're the one that has been best friends with him since elementary school."

"Fuck me." Nessa muttered as she saw Montgomery rounding the corner and realized that Jessica was nowhere in sight. She was really doing this, and she had no idea what she was going to say.

"Montgomery." Nessa said as he approached her. Here goes nothing.

"What the hell do you want now, Nessa?" he asked as he stopped in front of her, his two friends leaving them in the dust.

"What's your fucking deal, huh?" she asked sharply.

"What do you mean?" he asked as he walked closer to her, leaving an uncomfortable distance between the two ex-friends.

"What's your deal?" Nessa repeated herself. "Why do you hurt people?"

Monty laughed. "I already apologized to you. What more do you want? Is this about football?"

"No, it's about you." Nessa told him. "That apology was bullshit by the way, because you still continue to hurt people. I was wrong, there isn't a single part of you that was worth saving. Why are you so fucking cruel?"

"I'm not cruel." Monty said with a smirk on his face.

"Bullshit." Nessa said. "There is something seriously fucked up about you, and I really wish you could tell me what it is. At least give me an explanation as to why you're such a sick bastard."

Nessa knew the truth, thanks to a certain Winston Williams. But, she could never tell Montgomery that. She cared about Winston's wellbeing.

"I had a bad childhood." Monty said with a smile as he walked away, but Nessa wasn't finished.

"Yeah, I know." she said, and he turned around halfway, his jaw clenched. "And maybe your piece of shit dad is a part of it, but what else?"

"Or were you always like this, and I just never noticed?"

"Look, what the fuck?" Monty snapped as he walked closer to the girl. "What do you want?"

"I think I just want to understand, Montgomery." Nessa said calmly, his anger not fazing her. "But, I don't think I ever will."

"You're a crazy bitch." Montgomery said. "Your friend, too."

"Yeah." Nessa said as she chuckled, stepping closer and closer to the boy until they were inches away. She could see his chest rising and lowering with anxiety. "And you should fucking fear that."

Montgomery scoffed, walking away and heading toward the stairs. He stopped once, looking back to roll his eyes before he walked away for good. Jessica jumped out of her hiding spot, squealing with excitement.
