Letter to old self

Hey, you—nonchalant you,
It's been a while; did you miss me too?
You've been greatly missed, I must say,
Though now I've something new to convey.

I once set out to make the world better,
But I failed, and now I pen this letter.
I thought you were bad, a chaotic force,
Yet how peaceful the world was, of course.

I miss that calm, that serene peace,
When we let the universe spin at its own ease.
Let people be, let them circle 'til they learn,
Even when guiding them right, they still spurn.

Hey, you, I'm calling you back,
This time for good, no turning back.
A lover boy, but careless as all,
Caring yet distant, answering their call.

The world wants you, my old friend,
It needs you now, through the bitter end.
Whatever was right from me, it fades,
For the world needs you in its intricate shades.
