The door knocks on Denny's door, Karen opens the door and brings the food to Denny's table, saw Denny already asleep while the light is on. She sighs sadly and walks to him, pulling the blanket over him and turning off the light. She put the cover on the food plate so files will get to it.

"Mom...?" She heard his voice and turned to him as he soon turned back the light on. "Can you get mama...? I want to talk to her, alone." His soft voice questioned and she nodded. "Of course Denny, I'll get her." Karen leaves the room and keeps the door open. She went to the living room and found Hen there on her phone talking to her mother.

"Yeah I'm sorry ma, there have been changes of plans since Mara had to go back to the group home." Hen sigh softly and shook her head. "Love you ma, bye." She hung up the call and looked at him. "How's Denny?" She asked.

"Same... Denny wants to talk to you, alone." Karen told her, Hen turned confused and walked to her. "About what?" Karen shook her head, not knowing why but maybe about Mara. "Probably about Mara... I'll let you both talk privately." Karen told her and kissed on her cheek.

Hen walks to Denny's bedroom and closes the door before she comes in. "Hey, she told me you want to talk to me?" She said walking to his bed and sat close to him as he sat up straight. "Are you okay?"

"Please don't be mad..." Denny told her and she shook her head and placed her hand on his hand. "I won't be mad..." Denny gave her the look since he knew what he had done when he started seeing his birth father behind his mothers back. "Okay, at your birth father I was... and not very thrilled by what you did. Right now I'll understand, I'll try to." Hen promised him as he looked under his pillow and took out the folder and gave it to her.

"Don't worry, I didn't sneak off to see her. I just wanted to research some more about her, where she grew up, her family, her history, everything I wanted to know. I know you don't feel comfortable talking about her." Denny explained to his mother, she sigh softly as she opened the folder and saw some notes, written papers that Denny had written plus printed some of his birth mother's information background. "Between what happened to your birth mother and me, it's more complicated and messy than you think." Hen begins. "How long have you been researching this?" She looked at him.

"Before Mara came... I forgot about this since Mara struggles to accept us." Denny admitted. "I can't remember where I put it and forgot about this till last night I was just cleaning up my bedroom and then I found this." Denny sighs softly and deep breaths when he looks at her.

"Mama, before I was born... How did you and my birth mother know each other?" He asked out of nowhere, she looked down sadly, honestly hoping she wouldn't have to answer any of the questions about her ex girlfriend, Eva Mathis.

"...we met in high school." She looked at him. "I was already dating someone, nothing too serious since she wanted to keep things private. Being lesbian and gay stuff wasn't quite normal back in my old days, I thought I loved her and she loved me. But that's just my fantasy dream, one day I wanted to officially ask her to be my girlfriend instead of just on and off fling. But things went differently than I expected." Hen explained and moved to the back of the bed and sat next to him and wrapped her arm around him and held him closely to him. They look at each other and smile sadly at Denny. "We were together almost four years until I met your birth mother in the bathroom, caught her taking drugs. I immediately took her pills and threw them into the trash bin right away. Did I make her angry, yes, did she whine, no but she did try to punch me and I blocked her fist going at me."

"So you both have known each other for years since you both met in the bathroom. How did you both exactly fall in love, no offense but why did you date her since she was dealing with drugs?" Denny asked as Hen chuckled and tilted her head.
