"What?" I said, confused as she threw that sparkling diamond ring onto the dull marble table. The ring that I spent years working for.

"I just don't love you anymore." she said.

"Is this because of my job? I'll find a better one I swear! It's just the company went corrupt! I don't have a choice but to work this right now..," I was tired having just come home from work and now exasperated, it was all so sudden, my whole world collapsing. She was just with me for my money.

Her heels clacked as she trotted out the door, our newborn baby wailing at the commotion. I sat next to her, tears streaming down my face, my eyes reddened. "It's okay baby, it's fine. I'll promise you a good life, we don't need her." In all truth, I did need her. She was my first. First love, first kiss, first time.... I took our... no my baby in my arms as i sobbed.

---------------------------------------------------------

That was 3 years ago. I've started life anew since then, i had forgotten about her, threw everything that reminded me of her away. But I've never once thought of giving away my baby.no matter how hard times got, how bad my financial needs ever got. We pushed through it together, she was my world. My baby is no longer a baby though, oh how fast she grows... she just turned 4 a few months back even.

In these years I've started my own company and we flourished and rose to the top of the industry. Though with her growing older and my workload getting heavier as we prosper more, ive lost time to take care of her in my working hours. I'd ought to send her to a childcare then.

That's what my secretary said at least. She's been with me from the very start of this company. We've grown to form a best friend bond over the years, she's truly the only person I can open up to... and my only friend..

"A childcare? Huh... I've never thought of that really.." I put a finger on my chin... my beard was growing out again. My kid, Ruru came to my side and asked for food. "Okay baby just wait a second alright?" she nodded cutely in response.

"Yes! Isn't that a great idea? You barely have time to care for her! Look she's starving.." my secretary, Beatrice said, a joking tone in the last sentence as she picked up Ruru and sat her on the couch giving her some animal biscuits.

"Don't give her too much.. They aren't healthy you know.." I said as ruru munched messily on the over sweetened biscuits.

"Don't worry, she wont die," Beatrice laughed heartily as she stood up again, heels clacking on the uncarpetted ground.

"Oh by the way, when's the carpeting people gonna do it, I can't stand your loud heels! Why can't you just wear flats?" I filtered my hair through my hands as she clacked her heels LOUDER, carrying files over.

She laughed before replying, "next week I believe, though I heard high heels make my legs look longer... I heard women like long legs!"

"Nobody wants you..."

----------------

It's been 3 days, I can't find a suitable childca-

"What about this one? It seems good, the reviews aren't too bad! There are only good reviews," Beatrice shows me on her phone.

"Oh?" I move closer towards her to take a closer look. "It's near the building too.. I think that should be fine. Can you give them a call to let them know we will be coming in for a tour?"

"Sure, I'll let you know the deets soon!"

Awhile later the sound of her Louboutins rung in my eardrums again.

"Would next wednesday be a good day?"

"I guess I do have time then..."

"Hehe I'm so happy you're actually listening to MY ideas!!" she giggled as she skittled off.

--------------

Wednesday came around sooner than I thought... I straightened my tie as I left my office, Beatrice not far behind and Ruru holding my finger. We walked to my car and drove off.

The ride was rather short as the place was relatively near our office. Upon pulling up, the overall atmosphere and the building gave me positive vibes. 2 more qualifications, staff and routines.

The door chimed with an automatic bell as we pushed it open.

"Good afternoon! Are you Mr. Huang.. and Ms. Lin?"

"Indeed so... we are here for the tour?"

"Ah yes, welcome in! Our manager will be with you in a second!" the administrator walked off to another office as we waited. Beatrice picked her up in her arms and spoke.

"This is gonna be your new daycare!"

"Oh don't carry her like that,... people might think im a bad dad.. Or that you're her..mo-"

"Good afternoon-!" he stopped in his words as he looked at me.

"Good afternoon?" I replied... confused as to why he didn't finish his sentence.

"Good afternoon! We are here for the tour!" Beatrice chimed gleefully as Ruru giggled with her.

"So this is your kid? Oh how cute she i-" he started, but I cut through him.

"My child..." I cleared my throat. "She's just my employee, my secretary. If any thing more, my best friend. No more no less!" Beatrice nodded.

"Oh alright!" his face seemed to brighten a tad. "Well she clearly looks as cute as her da- i mean she's really cute.! Can I pinch her cheeks oh godd! Sorry, cuteness aggression!" he looked at her in a cute, gentle manner, waving to her lightly.

"Oh my god he clearly likes you." Beatrice whispered in my ear.

"Shut up."

Throughout the tour, he kept looking at me, I presumed it was because it was my decision if I was going to send Ruru here but as Beatrice said, "He's so into you."

This place ticked all my boxes of qualification. Vibes, staff and routines... especially the staff. I'd be lying if I thought he wasn't good looking. Though I can't seem to remember his name.

"What's his name again?" I had asked in the middle of the tour.

"Haemi, you'd ought to remember that if that's your future boyfriend!" she had replied.

At the end of the tour, he handed us both business cards, telling us to call him by the end of the week with our, or rather my decision. Well i had already made up my mind but... I lowkey wanted his number.

"Oh you should text him!" she elbowed me after he bowed and left.

"Shut up."

-------------------------

Haemi pov

"Huh who would be texting me at this ho- hey wait! That guy in the profile picture seems awfully familiar where have I seen him!" I opened the text from him on whatsapp and it read.

Naru Huang: Good evening, sorry for a text at such a time, I'm sure you don't want texts related to work at this hour. But I'm informing you, I have made up my mind and I will be sending my child here. Do let me know when she can start, I'll have to prepare for that haha.

He seemed to be still online... I wouldn't want him to go off, so I shot back a text as quickly as my fingers would move on the keyboard.

haemi!: hey! good evening sir, im so happy to hear that! i hope u dont mind if im a tad bit informal... formality is so not my thing. youre that hot dilf from earlier right?

I clicked send.

SEND. ok why didnt i think this through! I smashed my head onto my pillow so hard i was convinced it could break... dilf. I REALLY JUST CALLED HIM A DILF. this is so embarrassing! What if he doesn't want to send his kid here anymo-

A ring echoed through my lowkey empty room. He texts really fast!

Naru Huang: What exactly is a 'dilf'?

OH. MY. GOD. He's such a dilf!

He's such an old man! There's genuinely no way he's just 5 years older than me.

haemi!: oh well.. You don't have to know!

Naru Huang: Oh but I do.
