CHAPTER FIVE ! i'm glad he picked you.

" CARLOS! you did great! i'm so proud of you!" raina says jogging to catch up to him as he walks out of the locker room.
he smiles, "thanks rain. can i call you that? i never really asked and if you hate it ill stop but-," carlos rambles.
raina shakes her head, "carlos. i love it, stop. it's really sweet. no one has called me that," she interrupts.
he smiles and the two begin to walk down a path. she lets dude down to walk and holds onto his leash so he doesn't wander off. "so how was it growing up here?" carlos asks. "or i guess growing up royalty."
raina thinks for a second, "depends which side of royalty you're asking about. if you're talking about the way i was raised, i wouldn't trade it for the world, if you're talking about the people, i would have some different words," she responds, causing a smile to appear on carlos' face.
"i mean, i saw your face when audrey kept correcting you and ben on your royal status. you don't like being called a princess?" he asks.
raina shakes her head, "it's not that necessarily. it's more i don't like being used in the higharcy if that makes sense. i'm more than my royal status, and i'm proud of that. but audrey, that's all she has."
carlos nods, "yeah i see that too. i respect that of you. you're a very selfless person raina," he states.
she smiles warmly, "thank you carlos. you are too. i'm glad ben chose you to come to auradon," she says looking down at dude.
carlos smiles, "me too rain."

" CARLOS is that a dog?" cruella asks, her face millimeters away from the screen. dude wimpers as the old women squeaks the toy on her vest, "yes, yes, baby, i do understand. it would make the perfect size for earmuffs."
carlos steps forward, "he's the perfect size for a pet," carlos states, strongly. "this dog loves me, and i love him! and FYI, your dog is stuffed! so give it a rest!" carlos yells.
raina walks up behind the vk's, "gianna who is that? behind you?" mother gothel asks.
raina looks up from her tablet in front of her with coronation plans on it, "mother. this is raina fitzherbert," she answers.
raina looks at the tv, not knowing what was going on but semi-understanding once she sees all of the vk's parents on the screen, "hello, i'm raina, it's nice to meet you all," she says with a bright smile on her face.
mother gothel and maleficent roll their eyes, "does your hair have special powers like your mothers, dear?" mother gothel asks.
gianna looks at the screen, "that's enough mother. don't answer her raina," she says, sticking up for the blonde. raina smiles towards gianna and walks to fairy godmother to show her the decoration plans for coronation to get her approval. mother gothel begins to say something but jay cuts her off, turning off the computer.
"i'm so sorry," fairy godmother says, looking to the teens.
"thanks for the special treat," jay replies.
fairy godmother nods, "of course. oh and raina thank you for doing this for me. i greatly appreciate it," she says smiling at the girl. the vk's begin to walk out one by one, until only carlos and dude are left.
she nods appreciatively, "of course fairy godmother. if you need anything else just let me know," she replies. she turns and begins to walk out with carlos, "i'm so sorry i interrupted, i didn't realize this was your guys' period with her."
carlos shakes his head, "it's no big deal. you missed me standing up to my mother though," he says smirking. raina smiles brightly.
"really carlos? i'm so proud of you!" she says, stopping and hugging the boy. taken back, carlos pauses for a second, and then hugs back. he smiles as the stay still for a moment, him inhaling the smell of her flowery perfume. they break apart and walk to lunch together.

" OKAY, we all know what this looks like," mal states pointing at a drawn picture of the fairy godmother's wand. "so, we'll be up on the dais under the beast's spell jar, and we'll be coming in from here. i will be in the very front. you all will be up in the balcony."
"okay," evie nods along with the plan.
"carlos?" mal asks.
"okay, so i'll find our limo, so we can break the barrier and get back on the island with the wand," he says looking down at the map.
"perfect? evie?"
"yeah?" evie replies.
mal grabs a perfume bottle, "you will use this to take out the driver. two sprays and he'll be out like a light," she states.
evie nods, "okay." gianna and jay look at eachother and nod. carlos and jay then go sit on their beds as mal takes a seat at their table, reading over a spell in her head.
"m? you want to break ben's love spell?" gia asks.
carlos looks over to mal and his heart drops, raina. "yeah," mal replies effortlessly, "you know, for after. i don't. i've just been thinking, you know, when the villains finally do invade auradon, and begin to loot and kick everyone out of their castles, and imprison their leaders and destroy all that is good and beautiful, ben still being in love with me just seems a little extra cruel."
mal slams her spell book shut and walks out of the room. "m," evie states as she walks away.

CARLOS lays down on his bed, thinking about what's going to happen after the villains invade auradon. there will be no more dude, no more tourney, and most importantly no more raina. the one girl who has changed him for the better, brought him out of his shell even a little bit, is going to be taken away from him. and there's nothing he can do to stop it.
