Chapter Six

When Sunday came, I woke up early to attend the first mass. Matapos ay pumunta ako sa bookstore. I need to buy pens and highlighters. May binili na si Kuya na binder at yellow pad, kaya hindi na ako nagabala pang bumili no'n.

Kuya Earl:
nagsimba ka? hindi ako sigurado kung ikaw 'yung nakita ko kanina.

Napangiti ako sa text ni Kuya. He probably went to the mass, too. It's something that our family's tradition, to attend mass regularly. Pero nang mawala si Papa, hindi na mas'yado dahil narin kahit linggo, nagt-trabaho sila ni Mama. I had to go to church alone sometimes.

Harleigh:
Oo, Kuya. Blessed Sunday!

Kuya Earl:
you should've informed me para sabay tayo.

Pumasok na ako ng bookstore after sending my reply. Nilapitan ko ang mga pens at pumili. I also picked the yellow, blue, and orange highlighters. Lumapit ako sa mga libro matapos sa mga pens. Napanguso ako nang may nagustuhan ngunit mahal. Babalikan ko nalang siguro.

Napakagat ako ng labi sa naisip. Luminga ako sa paligid bago nilagay sa pinakalikod ng shelf ang librong nagustuhan. Mahirap na. Nagiisa nalang 'yon.

I felt the monsters in my tummy as soon as I went out of the bookstore. I didn't have a proper breakfast earlier. I just had a coffee. I pouted and looked around. Baka malipasan na ako kapag dadalhin ko pa ang gutom ko sa dorm.

I have decided to eat at the fast food chain. Pinili ko nalang ang breakfast. Available pa naman dahil 9 AM palang.

My phone vibrates as I open our dormitory's gate.

Eloisa:
Are you sure we are still friends? you didn't tell me you're already here in SL!😒

Harleigh:
Hala, sorry. Nakalimutan ko!

Totoong nakalimutan kong imessage siya. E, hindi naman kasi ako sanay sa pakikipagtext. Laging sila Kuya at Mama lang ang nakakausap ko.

Eloisa:
k. let's meet tomorrow to end our friendship.

Natawa ako sa reply nito. I'm sure she's not serious about it.

Harleigh:
I would love to.

Alam kong inis na inis na siya sa'kin. Titiisin ko nalang ang mga irap niya bukas.

Eloisa:
?!?!?!

Mas lalo akong natawa sa reply niya.

Harleigh:
☺️☺️☺️

It was 11 pm when I heard from Jenna that someone was waiting for me outside. Two guys were in my mind; it's either Kuya or...

"Ang aga naman? Ang Sabi mo sa text 12:30 pa?" Tanong ko kay Luke.

Ngumisi siya at tinignan ako mula ulo hanggang paa. Nanlaki ang mga mata ko nang marealize na naka pajama at oversized shirt lang ako! I crossed my arms on my chest. I'm not wearing underneath!

"You look... cute," ngisi niya.

"Stop it." Tinignan ko siya ng masama. "Answer me."

"Mom wants you to eat with us. I texted you but I didn't get a reply. I called you but you didn't answer." Nahiya ako sa sinabi niya.

"Sorry, nagc-charge kasi ang phone ko. Hindi ko napansin. Naka silent 'yon lagi."

Tumango ito. "I understand. Maligo ka na. I'll wait you here."
