Part 16

Yeji took an uneasy breath, tucking her hair behind her ears as she glared at Hyunjin. "Look," she said through clenched teeth, "I don't want trouble and I don't want to talk to you anymore. Just move to another seat."

Hyunjin smirked. "Are you deaf? I said this seat is mine now."

"Hey, you—" Yeji began, but was interrupted when the teacher entered.

"Students, take your seats immediately!" the teacher announced.

Yeji stood frozen, shooting daggers at Hyunjin before turning to the teacher.

"Yeji!" the teacher snapped. "Didn't you hear me?"

Yeji pointed angrily at Hyunjin. "I heard you, teacher! I would sit down, but this jerk won't get out of my seat!"

The teacher sighed. "Sam, please find another seat."

Hyunjin leaned back defiantly. "But I like this one."

After a tense pause, the teacher relented. "Well then, Yeji dear, you'll have to sit elsewhere today."

Yeji's eyes widened. "Wh—why? That's my—"

"Yeji, enough!" the teacher cut her off.

Fuming, Yeji stomped to the seat on Hyunjin's right, shooting him a look that could melt steel. Just then, the door burst open.

Leeknow stumbled in, panting. "Sorry...teacher...I'm late!" He clutched his chest, trying to catch his breath.

The teacher waved him in. "The lesson hasn't started yet. Take your seat."

Leeknow froze when he saw Hyunjin in Yeji's usual spot. His eyes darted between Hyunjin and Yeji as he slowly sat down, pulling books from his bag with trembling hands. He gave Yeji a questioning look, to which she could only respond with a heartbroken glance.

The teacher finished writing the lesson title on the board with a final flourish of chalk before turning to face the class. Her eyes immediately sought out the new student. "Our newest member, please come introduce yourself," she announced, gesturing toward the front.

Hyunjin shoved his chair back with unnecessary force and slouched to the designated spot. "My name is Hwang Hyunjin," he muttered. "Have a nice day, everyone." He turned to leave.

"Wait!" The teacher's brow furrowed. "Wasn't your name Sam?"

"No." The answer came sharp and final as Hyunjin stalked back to his seat, leaving the teacher blinking in confusion.

**Forty Minutes Later...**

As the bell rang, the teacher's gaze immediately locked onto Hyunjin. "Mr. Hwang, please come with me."

Hyunjin exhaled dramatically before dragging himself after her. They walked in tense silence until reaching the teacher's office.

"Why are we here?" Hyunjin demanded, leaning against the doorframe.
