Chaptire Dix: Ricochet
Sabrina's befuddlement about their new location led to her falling to the hands of a bored Jackie. She sat on the porch, legs spread out before her so she could tend to Vick's injury while her neck was craned, allowing the brassy blonde behind her to wreak havoc in her hair.
Having dealt with burns before, Sabrina was cautious with unraveling the bandages and applying petroleum jelly over the area. She didn't have to do it but honestly, Sabrina felt indebted to Vick. If it wasn't for their connection, she would be sick with worry about her family's whereabouts, so she felt like it was only right for her to help Vick in anyway she could. But obligation created curiosity.
Perhaps it was the visit to her Uncle's office that did her over or maybe it was just spending time as the European, but Sabrina wanted to learn more about this Vicktoriya. She could feel her aches and would occasionally sense an emotion stemming from her subconscious but Sabrina wanted to know her thoughts too. What she sounds like when she was talking and not when Sabrina was talking for her. Where did she stand with everyone? Sabrina even wondered if Vick had sensed their connection and if she didn't, would she be scared or intrigued by it?
"You know, Vicky, you have really nice hair. Like, even though it's been days since it has seen a comb, it still sits nicely." Jackie remarked, looping the end of a misshapen braid around her finger before undoing it to start a new one. "Kinda makes me wish I didn't cut mine in sophomore year. Bangs and a bob aren't for everyone."
Sabrina closed the lid to the container and leaned back against Jackie's legs. From the corner of her eyes, she could see Travis trying to load bullets into a hunting gun the group apparently found after searching the cabin yesterday. She rolled her eyes and then began to wrap tie up the bandages, "I thought it looked cute."
Jackie scoffed theatrically, "No, I remember you asking me if I was trying to become a nun or something and then when I said no, you told me to watch The Sound of Music. So I did a few months later at Shauna's place and I nearly reported you for bullying."
The intruder snorted but when the captain's hands stopped moving, she dropped her smile and cleared her throat, "Sorry, that was messed up."
Jackie suddenly brought a hand to the brunette's jaw and guided her head towards her to get a better look at her face. Arching her brows, she glanced between Vick's eyes, "Ok, you're acting really weird right now."
Sabrina swallowed thickly, lacing her fingers together in a tight hold. She nearly smiled but didn't to sheepishly ask, "What are you talking about?"
"I mean, you don't just apologize like that and I've never heard you call something cute before. Like ever." Jackie responded lightheartedly, though she did find the gleam in Vicktoriya's eyes to be a bit, alien. Her tongue was always sharp for the captain but her face never matched her tone, vice versa. But in that moment, her expression aligned with her words, leaving her friend conflicted.
After noticing how Jackie was examining her, Sabrina pushed her hand away and clicked her teeth, hoping that Vick would've responded that way, "I find things cute."
"Like what? Mm, do you think I'm cute?" Jackie asked, drumming her fingers against her shoulders and looking at her expectantly.
