"Ask away," I said coolly, feigning a calm facade

"Ask away," I said coolly, feigning a calm facade. I was in his territory now, under his control.

"Come on," he smiled, "I have something to show you that I think you'll like."

I nodded, following him out of the room. "I really don't have too long," I said unconvincingly.

Walking behind him, I could feel just how small I was. I never saw myself as small, especially not in heels! But he towered over me, his broad shoulders leading me to an elevator at the far side of the room.

"Big plans?" he asked.

"Sort of."

"I'm sorry that I couldn't come to collect you myself," he said, "things have gotten crazy recently."

"That's okay," I said, stepping into a mirrored black and white marble elevator. He pushed the button in front of me down to minus one, and I felt a flicker of energy as his arm was in close proximity to my chest.

Parts of my body started to grow hot, and I realized that despite being a powerful witch, I didn't know the first thing about boys, let alone men!

I didn't know how to handle all the emotions going off inside me.

"You look beautiful, by the way," he said, and I tried my best to avoid his gaze. My heart leapt.

"Thank you."

"So, whereabouts in Vermont are you from?"

The elevator was bringing us down, and I felt... aroused. Excited at the prospect of being alone with him.

I was glad that he was making conversation, and that it was completely unrelated to last night. I wasn't ready to delve into all that yet. I felt discombobulated, to say the least.

"I live in the Northeast Kingdom."

"Wow," he said.

"What?"

"You get more mysterious by the day."

"Well, I'm just a nature kind of girl. I'm out of place here in the city."

"I can tell."

"Hey!" I said, "I thought I was hiding my identity pretty well, actually."

"Okay, nature girl, what really brings you to Toronto?" he questioned.

The elevator reached the lower floor and we walked out to a hallway that had multiple doors. It felt secluded, but for some reason, I trusted him still.

I was running on cloud nine with all the attention he was giving me, silly given the situation, I know.

"Just family," I said, which wasn't exactly untrue.

We entered a dark room, lit only by purple neon lights. The pool made up most of the room, with couches and ledges surrounding it on all sides. It was breathtaking, like being transported into another world. It was luxury to the extreme.
