I based my part of the fic off my friend's fic of my characters but I can't post their work so hehe leaving y'all contextless
Also if you're wondering why it's called the Ballroom Bathroom Scene it's because there was this joke between my friends about Taylor and Ruth doing the hanky panky in the ballroom bathroom after dancing but DON'T WORRY THIS ISN'T WHAT THE FIC IS ABOUT. This is purely fluff I wrote on crack. :3
Btw for more context Keiko is my other friend's OC and the 'white haired gentleman and his boyfriend' are both the OCs of my friend who wrote the fic that inspired this fic (once again thank you so much dude)
Taylor had been rudely interrupted in her embrace with Ruth by a certain white-haired gentleman nd his boyfriend. The moment they saw them together, they rushed towards the both of them, whooping and waving their hands in the air like they were mega fans or something. Taylor had abruptly broken away from Ruth and proceeded to hide under the stage, covering her burning red face. Ruth had managed to coax her out with the promise of a kiss (which immediately worked) and delivered it just as Taylor liked it. If there was one thing she had to do for the rest of her life, it'd be kissing this goddess. And now, she was dazedly getting a drink, not believing how well her surprise had gone and Ruth... Ruth had kissed her. All she had worked for had actually paid off! She had to tell Daniel. Except when she'd asked about them, she had been told Daniel had apparently whisked Mira out of the ballroom after her show. Alone. Maybe Taylor's bold confession to Ruth had inspired him. Taylor was wishing him all the best.
She heard a soft chuckle behind her, and two arms wrapping around her frame.
"I'll take your drink."
Taylor turned around hearing the familiar voice.
Ruth was holding Taylor's drink in her left hand, her right hand outstretched to Taylor.
"Dance with me?"~~~~~~~
Dancing was exhausting.
Taylor stood in the bathroom, rearranging her hair and putting on some light makeup hurriedly. Ruth would be waiting for her outside...
How can I make my date wait?
No. She was her girlfriend now. That fact still made her want to squeal every time she thought about it. During the dance, she'd tripped over Ruth's foot twice, and her own a million times. It was a miracle Ruth didn't immediately break up with her seeing her horrendous pirouetting skills. And Ruth? She moved like a ballerina. Fitting for a goddess, Taylor supposed. She barely deserved a woman like her. What was she even doing right now? Ruth was majestic, beautiful, perfect, and she was just... gay. Really gay. Why was Ruth dating her? She probably just felt bad rejecting her and decided to bear with her. No, no, no... If this was what she really felt, Taylor had no doubts she'd break up with her. But Taylor truly loved her, and if Ruth was faking it, at least Taylor could fool herself. She shook the thoughts away. How could she be so selfish? Her heart was speeding up and she could feel the sweat beads sticking to her skin. Instinctively, she wrapped her arms around her body and started hyperventilating.
Not this again...
"Taylor?"
Ruth's voice had a worried tone now, the sound of her knocking the door echoing through the bathroom. Taylor didn't answer. She couldn't answer.
"Taylor!"
Ruth was definitely getting more agitated from the silence behind the door. Taylor forced her fingers to unlatch from her body and shakily reached her hand to the lock and twisting it. Just as Ruth burst in, her knees gave out and she tumbled to the floor. Ruth caught her just before she hit the ground.
"Taylor..." She murmured, grabbing her shoulders firmly yet gently. After looking up and down Taylor for a few seconds, she sighed, fishing out some pills from Taylor's bag.
"You should've told me you were getting a panic attack. You don't have to hide in the bathroom and suffer from it alone, alright?"
Taylor couldn't muster the energy to breathe... She was so wet... so hot... (NOT THAT WAY SHES JUST PANICKING soon though >:3) her breathing was still shaky as she clung to Ruth for dear life. They stayed in that position, until Ruth grunted and Taylor managed to lift herself up enough so she could lay her on the floor.
"Rest, okay? I can bring you to your room dear."
Ruth took out a handkerchief from her pocket and wiped the sweat beads off Taylor's forehead, cooing softly and massaging her shoulders gently. Taylor sunk into her touch, relaxing her body. She was glad Ruth didn't ask why she was having a panic attack. That would be... hard to explain, to say the least. She couldn't help but get paranoid sometimes...
"Hey. If you're comfortable telling me... Why did you get that panic attack?"
Ruth asked softly after a few beats. Taylor's muscles tensed up before she groaned out loud. Ruth retracted her hand quickly, staring at Taylor worriedly.
"D-did I say or do something wrong?"
She stammered, shifting away from Taylor a bit. Taylor immediately regretted groaning out loud, reflexively grabbing onto Ruth's arm desperately. Ruth's eyes softened, holding Taylor's body in her hands again and stroking her back.
"I'm sorry I made you feel uncomfortable. Just know I really love you, okay?"
Taylor felt even worse hearing the words, but this time was smart enough not to show it. Ruth was here, taking care of her, and here she was, thinking Ruth was playing her. What kind of girlfriend was she?
"N-no, I'm s-sorry. I-I'll tell you."
Taylor sputtered, shaking her head at Ruth's words. Ruth's eyes widened, before she smiled and nodded.
"Just speak your mind. I won't judge. And thank you for being honest with me."
Taylor nodded, snuggling into Ruth's arms before taking a deep breath.
"I-just-kinda-thought-you-didn't-actually-like-me-and-that-you-were-faking-it-but-after-this-I-know-I'm-definitely-wrong-because-you're-so-gods-damn-sweet-to-me-and-even-though-I-don't-deserve-you-still-love-me-so-much-and-that's-just-not-fair-of-me-to-be-so-paranoid-of-your-intentions-I'm-so-sorry-I'm-such-a-shitty-girlfriend."
Taylor wheezed out, breathing heavily when she finally spat out all her words. Ruth blinked a few times, confused.
"I-I can repeat that if you wa-"
"No."
Ruth said sternly. Taylor looked up in surprise.
Ruth sighed.
"Taylor. I just want to say... that's not true, okay? I love you. Really, absolutely, a hundred and one percent love you. And if you're ever even just a little bit unsure if I do, I'm going to kiss you and cuddle you till you know I do, okay?"
Taylor gazed into Ruth's eyes in shock. Ruth smiled before kissing her lightly.
"There. Just remember, if you're ever unsure..."
Ruth raised her eyebrows jokingly, licking her lips and winking.
"Come to my bedroom and I'll promise you that you'll know how much I really love you."
Taylor's face burst into flames from the innuendo. She stared at Ruth, mouth opened wide, trying to find the words that weren't there.
"I-I-I..."
She said lamely. She took another deep breath.
"D-do you... do you mean that?"
She whispered. Whether she was talking about Ruth's... invitation to her bedroom... or if she truly loved Taylor was something even Taylor didn't know. Ruth laughed. Taylor blushed harder. She must look ridiculous right now.
"Of course I love you! You're my girlfriend, why wouldn't I? And yes, that invitation is still wide open for you any time," she smirked, earning herself Taylor's stammering and flushed expression again.
"T-that's great to know..."
She trailed off, feeling like an absolute loser in front of someone so cool and amazing in front of her. Ruth started laughing for no discernible reason at all, and Taylor found that it was contagious. They were both laughing when the door was suddenly pushed open.
"Alright I'll see you outsi- What the...?!."
Keiko yelped, jumping back as she saw Ruth and Taylor huddled against each other and laughing.
"Uhhhhhhhhh..."
She waved her hand in between them. Taylor and Ruth finally stopped, before Taylor jumped up and started apologising profusely.
"Oh my gods I'm so sorry..."
She muttered the rest of the words, fidgeting with her fingers. Keiko patted her shoulder.
"It's fine! I'll go to another bathroom. Have fun in there, you two!"
She grinned, before w and slinking out.
"Oh, we'll have fun! You have fun with Gaia too!"
Ruth replied innocently, smiling back at her and waving. Taylor buried her head in her hands. How could she hit her with such a racey flirt and then be absolutely clueless to someone else's teasing? Ruth turned back to her, grinning sweetly at her.
"Shall we go and dance now?"
She chirped, holding Taylor's hands in hers. Taylor could hear the muffled ballroom music through the bathroom door.
"As long as you don't mind me falling every few seconds." Taylor chuckled. Ruth laughed and pulled her up, dragging her back onto the dance floor. She pulled Taylor close.
"If you fall, I'll catch you."
Ruth smiled gently, before suddenly letting go of Taylor for a moment and causing her to yelp. As promised, Ruth caught her, stifling her laughter, before righting Taylor back up and apologising sheepishly. Taylor couldn't care less. She was with the love of her life, and she would fall a million times for her just so she'd catch her. Even though Ruth was a lot more careful with her actions, Taylor was still falling for her smile, her heart, her everything.
