The year is 3162. Millenniums ago humans, driven by desperation to escape from their dying planet, discovered a way to travel faster than the speed of light through quantum tunnelling(basically quantum mechanics open up temporary wormholes that bypass the limitations of normal space-time travel--I'm not a scientist i don't really know). Since then, science and technology has advanced in ways humanity had not anticipated.

Soon after the discovery of quantum tunnelling, a century-long age of exploration began, exploring different star systems within the Milky Way Galaxy. A group who called themselves "Frontier Seekers" quickly arose, going from star system to star system and trying to take over them.

The Frontier Seekers caused uproar within other galactic communities and the residents of Earth were looked down upon(pls what is this phrasign)for decades before the Frontier Seekers were disbanded and tensions eased.

By now Earth was nearly inhabitable so the humans reached out to an ally planet, Luminara, for aid. Luminara was a planet nearly twice the size of Earth with a very low population, as well as a people who were very agreeable and mostly accepted humans settling on their home planet. Humans brought their rapidly evolving technology to Luminara, transforming many of its major cities into advanced metropolitan. Other planets later open up their atmosphere and accept human migration. By 2345, 90% of Earth's human inhabitants had migrated to Luminara or other planets, with a remnant remaining on Earth in the vain hope of saving their decaying home planet.

Fast forward to when history gets relevant. In 3032, Voyager Academy was established on a more rural region of Luminara. Voyager Academy was a school that trained students in different branches for galactic affairs. The main branches were military, negotiation(like politics, espionage, etc), but also had other branches such as medical, alchemy and literature. Most alumni trained in Voyager Academy go on to lead lives in the GFIA--that is, the Galactic Federation Intelligence Agency, based in the GF capital planet of Neo-Terra. The GFIA covers the military, as well as medical and espionage divisions under the GF.

Our story takes place in, as aforementioned, 3162. Earth has integrated into the Milky Way Galactic Federation(known as the Federation or GF for short)well, bringing their high-speed technological advancement to the Galaxy's belt of skills.

The Federation has at least some control over most star systems of the Galaxy; however, toward the edges of the Galaxy, wide-spread criminal organisations have inhabited the Fringe Worlds for centuries. These organisations are generally called the Shadow Collective.

On a side note: there are rumours of a rebellion that believes the GF has become authoritarian called the Syndicate
