The darkness of the night is disturbed by a soft green glow. Opening her eyes from the intensity of the glow dying down, Lucy Heartfilia rises from her bed. Gathering a robe from the hook behind her door, she rushes out to inspect the cause of the glow. Speeding towards the garden, she finds the source of the glowing to be from the Jade Lily Bush, a rare flowering bush that has been touched by a formation of magic jade making the flowers a dark green color.

Reaching the bush, she finds a small child sitting in the bushes, dried tears on his sleeping face. His dark hair covers an even darker magic, and the fifteen year old gasps at the bruises and marks on the child's body. Gently she shakes his shoulder; his bright green doe like eyes open, tears spilling from them. Taking in his small stature and the marks on his body, he couldn't be older than three.

"Hey hey hey. It's okay. You're safe with me." She picks him up and puts his quivering form on her lap, gently. "You'll be okay. I'll make sure of it. Just stay awake."

Taking the boy into her arms, she slowly stands up right before running to the head maid's quarters. The boy looks up at her, his eyes shining with hope. Hope that this lady does get him help. But the exhaustion quickly sets in as his injuries throb, a cry escapes his lips as he succumbs to them.

"No. NO! Hey!" She taps the little boy on the face, trying to keep him awake as she runs faster. "Someone help me! Get a doctor quick!"

After everything that happened with Phantom Lord, Lucy had to get back to the one place she despised, the Heartfilia Konzern. Leaving a note to the guild on her desk at home, she boards the train. Hours go by before the train stops at the station. Departing from the car, she heads on foot towards the land ahead. Gathered ahead of her is the staff of the Konzern. One in particular stands out as she cleans the fountain.

Looking up from her cleaning at the sound of footsteps, the elder maid stops and stares at the young woman. "Ms. Lucy! You're home!"

Turning to the woman, Lucy greets her. "Spetto!" she exclaims. "How is he?"

"He's been dipping in and out of consciousness. But when he's awake he does remember something."

"What is it?"

"He remembers the one who saved him, especially your eyes. He mutters from time to time, but we can never make out what he says. But his magic is beautiful."

"He's a mage?"

"A very powerful one as far as I've seen."

A door creaks, vibrating around the pair. Turning to the source of the sound, the women see a pair of jade orbs in the darkness of a servant's quarters. Lucy smiles as she crouches to his level. "I have to talk to someone really quick and then we can get out of here, okay?"

A nod of agreement leads her to close the door. "I'll be right back. Do you think you can stay here just a little bit longer?" Another nod. An orb of light comes from his hand as she closes the door.

Turning away, Lucy heads towards the main house on the land. Once in her room, she is dressed in a formal gown and lead towards the office of the lord of the house. Knocking on the door and gaining entrance to the study, Lucy stands in the middle of the room, while her father faces the window.

"You ran away without even saying a word to me. How could you?" he declares.

"I'm sorry." She states. "I shouldn't have left without speaking to you. It was a poor decision on my part. One I now deeply regret."

He turns to her. "I am glad you finally regained your senses and left that guild. A lady of your status shouldn't be affiliated with those ruffians. I certainly wasn't looking forward to wasting any more of my money to have it eradicated.
