*~*~*

The morning in the CBI office started as usual. Lisbon entered her office with a fresh coffee in her hand and noticed Jane sitting casually on her sofa. His mischievous smile was unmistakable.

"New scarf?" He asked, his eyes sparkling.

"Yes," Lisbon replied, trying to keep her voice neutral. "I thought some color couldn't hurt."

Jane leaned back. "Suits you really well."

Lisbon felt a tingling sensation in his compliment. "Thank you."

Later, when she was bent over reports, Jane approached her desk. "Should I help, or do you want to fight alone?" He asked with a smile.

She raised her head. "I can do it. But you could refill me with coffee."

"Gladly," Jane said and handed her the cup. Their fingers touched each other, both held the moment much longer than necessary.

"You seem distracted today," Jane remarked as he sat down.

"Maybe," said Lisbon. She knew it was because of Jane. In recent weeks, she noticed that she may have liked him more than just a friend and colleague.

As the afternoon progressed, her concentration on work was weak. Jane's eyes hit her again and again with an intensity that brought her out of the concept.

During the meeting, Jane sat close to her, her leg brushed his. Cho talked about the new case, but Lisbon struggled to listen.

"Plans for tonight?" Jane asked quietly, his breath brushed her ear.

"Actually nothing special," she replied. "Why do you ask?"

"Maybe a glass of wine?" His eyes flashed, a silent promise of more.

"Sounds good," she replied and couldn't suppress a smile.

When the working day ended, the tension remained in the air. Both knew that something big was inevitable, but Lisbon wasn't sure if she was ready to allow it.

*~*~*

The evening was cool and clear when Lisbon opened her door and Jane entered her apartment. The scent of wine and a light, pleasant lighting filled the room. Jane took a deep breath and smiled.

"Nice you have it here," he said as he looked around.

"Thank you," Lisbon replied, nervously, but trying to maintain her composure. "I hope the wine is to your taste."

"If it's just as good as what you wear, then I'm sure it's excellent," said Jane and Lisbon felt this tingling again. Jane took the bottle and opened it with skillful movements.

Lisbon went into the kitchen and prepared two glasses. "Is there anything you want to talk about? Or do we just want to enjoy?"

"I was thinking more of a mixture of both," Jane answered as he filled the glasses and handed her one. "How was your day?"

"Extenuous," Lisbon began while taking a sip of wine. "But that's my job. What about you? How was your day?"

"Perfect. But I was really looking forward to this evening." Jane smiled.

"Oh really?" She asked curiously.

"Yes," he said with a smile, "because I think we should get to know each other better. That's important... for work!"

*For work?? honestly?? * thought Lisbon. She couldn't have guessed that Jane didn't actually mean for WORK.

A relaxed and funny evening passed and Lisbon noticed more and more how she fell in lo... what?? In love?? With JANE??NEVER... she couldn't believe that!!!!... But it was true...
