She took a seat at the far end of the long dining table, putting as much distance between us as possible. I watched as Manang Ising, looking confused, approached Kinsley. She said something to her, and with a quick nod, Manang moved Kinsley's plate to where she was sitting.

I stared at the table, suddenly realizing how ridiculous this was. Were we really going to eat at opposite ends of this long table, like strangers?

She just started eating quietly, her movements precise, almost robotic. The silence in the kitchen was unbearable. It felt like the room was holding its breath, waiting for something to happen.

I let out a sigh, picking up my fork and trying to eat, but I couldn't. The tension made everything taste bland, and the way the maids were watching us didn't help. They looked like they were walking on eggshells, unsure of what to do.

I forced myself to take a few bites, but it was no use. I was too aware of Kinsley across the table, of the cold distance between us. It was like we were playing some twisted game, and I was losing.

Hanggang kailan ba kami magkakaganito?

Then, out of nowhere, Kinsley stood up. The scrape of her chair against the floor was the loudest sound I'd heard in minutes.

"Thanks for the food, po," she said, her voice polite but distant. Without another word, she turned and walked out of the kitchen.

I watched her go, feeling the weight of her departure settle in my chest. I leaned back in my chair, running a hand through my messy hair.

This wasn't how things were supposed to be. I didn't know what to say, what to do to make this right.

"Ah... mainit ata ulo ng asawa mo, Young Master," one of the maids said cautiously, her voice breaking the silence.

She was immediately nudged by another maid, who looked like she wanted to sink into the floor.

I couldn't help but laugh, but it was a hollow sound. "Yeah..."

But even as I laughed, the sound felt empty, echoing in the silence of the kitchen.

The truth was, I didn't find any of this funny. Not the torn shirt, not the tension, and definitely not the growing distance between Kinsley and me.

I leaned back in my chair, staring at the empty seat across the table, and wondered how we had ended up here-so far apart, even when we were in the same room.

Pano ba kita susuyuin ulit Kinsley?

NAGBABAD AKO SA BATHTUB ng ilang minuto, letting the warm water numb the ache in my chest. Manang Ising had shown me to this room earlier, calling it mine, but it still felt strange.

The day, the arguments, Kinsley walking away. My mind kept circling back to her, replaying every word, every glance, and every moment that felt like it was slipping through my fingers.

Napapaisip nga ako na what if wala na talaga pag asa?

Kasi napapaisip rin ako na pano kung malaman niya ang nangyari samin ni Nao, kinakatakot ko yun. Dahil panigurado kataposan ko na. Tuluyan niya na akong lalayuan.
