" Oh my God," Alfred said as he lowered his phone down to the breakfast table. His stepfather looked at him with a lifted eyebrow.

" I just got the most long winded email from the board. Of Barrington. They're replacing Gerald. He's not coming back in January. They're blaming him for what that woman did. That's ridiculous. "

Andrew agreed , saying," It is. They're making a bad move. I'm just an old disbarred lawyer who runs a bookstore. Well owns one even if others run it now. But he has a good wrongful termination case. I wonder if Richard has discussed that possibility with the man. " He smiled bitterly. " I would love to take his case. I'd win too. "

Alfred picked up his phone and quickly dialed Gerald. It just rang and rang and rang until it reached his voicemail. He sighed and hung up without leaving a message. What exactly could he say anyway? , he thought.

Glory stomped into the kitchen, holding a big bouquet of long stemmed red roses in her hands as though they were toxic or some type of bomb. They looked at her and Andrew laughingly asked," Should I be jealous, dear ?"

Glory's face was fixed into an expression of rage as she went over to the sink with the flowers. " Alfred, that man Scott Sands sent these for you. I'm assuming you don't want them. "

Alfred thinned his lips. " You assume right, Momma. Throw them away. "

Glory didn't throw them away. She took them one by one and feed them into the garbage disposal as her husband and son watched in amusement.

Alfred's phone dinged with a text message notification and he read it silently.

Scott: Did you get the flowers? You always loved roses. By the way I am accepting a position at The Washington Reign as a reporter.
